Biographical Information

What experiences, education, and personal characteristics qualify you to serve as a member of the Indiana General Assembly?

What are some of the unique challenges you see facing Northwest Indiana and how, specifically, will you work to address those challenges?

Describe your position on reproductive rights and who should influence or regulate a family's decisions.

What is your understanding of the movement to establish an independent, non-partisan redistricting commission in Indiana to manage the redistricting process? What is your opinion of that issue?

Like most of you, I am an average citizen. I was raised on a farm and I've lived in LaPorte and LaPorte County all of my life. I am married and raised a family here.

I attended Purdue North Central with a major in political science and psychology and a minor in history.

Prior to retirement, I worked in business, most recently as an account executive for a mortgage company and in the claims department of a national insurance company.

After retirement, I returned to work in banking customer service, and currently, durable medical equipment.

In my life, I have worked in factories, gas stations, restaurants, and even dug ditches. I've succeeded, made mistakes, failed and seen life from many different perspectives.

I can represent all, not just some, of the residents of District 20.
Homelessness is a concern, but it needs to be managed safely. The state could establish loan guarantees to help non-profits like Housing Opportunities secure multi-family properties for the homeless, subject to zoning restrictions. These include out of business hotel properties not in residential neighborhoods, for example. Tunnel 2 Towers is doing just that for homeless veterans including those with PTSD.
Birth control decisions should be left to the individual. However, I believe parents have the right to know if their child is using or being advised to use birth control. Parents can then try to influence a minor to abstain, however if the child does not, at least there won't be an unwanted pregnancy.

I do not consider abortion as a method of birth control. I also believe abortions should be very limited beyond 12-16 weeks.
From what I am seeing in government and our society, I am not sure there exists a non -partisan. However, ideally, if it could be guaranteed, I would agree.
