What are the most important functions of the State Central Committee, and why?
What are your top priorities, if elected?
What will you do to promote voter participation?
Training and Experience
I have been involved with the Democratic for mor than 50 years. I have served in various capacities in the party - County & State Central & Executive Committee, Chair of the County Central Committee and former president of the Young Dems and Democratic Women. I have also served as a campaign chair, treasurer and volunteer for many National, State, County and local campaigns.
Volunteer/Community Service
My volunteer time has included Pro Football Hall of Fame, The Ohio State University Alumni Association, Miss Clayland Scholarship Program (prelim to Miss Ohio/Miss America), Claymont Foundation, 2nd & 7 Foundation, Buckeye Cruise for Cancer, etc.
The functions of the State Central Committee are to make decisions for the party that will encourage others to get involved and feel as though they have a voice in decisions made by the party.
The caucuses of the party represent and give voice to various voters, such as Veterans, LGBTQA, Hispanic, Youth, Women, and Rural voters, etc. Including these caucuses within the structure of the party is vitally important to represent all of Ohio.
The committee also is responsible for electing the party leaders to speak out for our voters and serve as watchdogs for state level issues that protect our voters.
One very important aspect is to build the best statewide campaign that allows the local members of the party to have a say in what is best for their coordinated campaigns in each county.
I believe that it is important to include as many voices of the party as possible. I will continue to promote that inclusion and to share the ideals of the Democratic Party.
I will continue to promote leaders who focus on all voters in the state and learn the best practice for voters and campaigns in all counties in Ohio.
Promoting voter participation is vital to our Democracy. I continually encourage people to register to vote then encourage them to vote in each election. I remind voter of their voting options (in person, early voting and absentee ballots) and am willing to assist them to get to the polls when needed.
When we educate voters and show them how the decisions made by elected officials impact them, I believe that the eligible voters will have a better understanding of the importance of their participation.
