I care deeply about our community and I have the desire and ability to work with all kinds of people. Having worked for many years as a department manager for a large geographic information system software company, I am very familiar with budgeting, bookkeeping, and accountability. As a cartographer, I understand maps and mapping. I also have considerable writing, editing, and publishing experience.
As a three-year resident of Jemez Springs, I still have a lot to learn about the issues and challenges that face our Village. As a first-term trustee, my priority will be to learn about all the issues and to do whatever is needed to help accomplish the work that's required.
I suggest we learn what other communities do in such cases and find a working model that fits our situation in Jemez Springs.
I support development that provides value to our overall community instead of to outside interests. I would, for example, support having a small, locally-owned food/general store or a food cooperative in Jemez Springs. I would not be in favor of having a franchised convenience store that sells only sodas and junk food.
Many people already know that they can often find me at the Fine Art Gallery and our Farmer's Market. I'll do my best to make myself available to anyone that wants to share their ideas with me.
I'd like to see communication and cooperation encouraged between all the canyon corridor communities. I hope that home security lights will soon be required to comply with the dark sky status that the village has. The Trustees and Mayor should address any issue that involves the safety of people and wildlife or that impacts the quality of life for residents and visitors.
