I am a retired Marine, serving nearly 30 years. I hold a Graduate Degree in Management/Organizational Development and Leadership. Bachelor’s Degrees in Sociology and Communications. Corporate experience as an Operations Manager for Amazon. Small Business Experience as an owner, operator of Consulting Business’s in Finance, Facilities Maintenance and Business/Leadership Management. VP of my HOA and am excited about serving my community on a larger scale again.
Our failing infrastructure needs immediate attention and not more bandaids. I plan to completely review all processes in place for our water usage, sand in our toilets. How and why it’s gotten to this point! Our communities need to know what is at stake with more building and new infrastructure without a plan to take care of the old.
Bingo! Please see above for my response. WATER is my number one priority! Followed by NO INCREASE in property taxes, the old golf course plans and our roads.
We need a complete, city wide traffic review! Starting around every school within the Rio Rancho City Limits.
-The plan with the Old Golf Course -Affordable Housing. Do we have an affordable housing problem or an economic problem with the cost of goods and services increasing on average of 3x what it was 3 years ago? -A review of the treatment of the elderly/disabled living in Apartment Complexes within the City. -A review of the processes of fixing our roads with adequate quality material and not just a quick fix.
Get Out of The Office and Walk the Community! Talk with people again and get them involved in the decision-making process. Explain to voters, why I am making the decisions I am making with their tax dollars in mind. I should be able to articulate why I’m doing the things that I am doing as their city counselor. Always keeping mindful that the decisions that I am making are in the best interest, of my community!

My skills, education, and experiences have prepared me to become a City Councilor for the 4th District in the City of Rio Rancho. I have resided in Rio Rancho for the past twenty-eight years and am a life-long Democrat. I have a degree in Paralegal Studies, a B.A. in English, and my graduate coursework was in Rhetoric and Writing Studies. I taught for 25 years at CNM/TVI where I first held an administrative position as the Educational Coordinator for the Welfare to Work program, TVI Works.
As the District 4 City Councilor my number one priority is to make our city a clean and fair place to live and work. The city needs to equitably address the needs of its citizens. Equal opportunities for services and jobs that pay well should be available to all, regardless of sexual orientation, religion, and ethnicity. Giving oxygen to culture wars in our city has got to stop, and as a City Councilor, I will work hard to stop it.
I have toured the water infrastructure in our city, and our water is quite good. It is safe and the water processing facilities are state-of-the-art and employ well-trained, professional people. Good infrastructure is essential for our current residents and businesses and necessary for growth. Water availability is an issue that must be addressed through planned development. We cannot continue to build without considering water consumption by new businesses and residents.
Absolutely! It takes entirely too long to from one end of Rio Rancho to the other. Priority needs to be given to increasing the arteries in and out of the city

Rio Rancho needs to be a destination for entertainment. The Star Center is under-utilized but accessing it can be a nightmare. Increasing arteries to the Star Center would also help with traffic throughout our city. I want to see the people of Santa Fe, Albuquerque, and the rest of Sandoval County come spend their money in Rio Ran
The focus of the City Council must be on providing services to the residents.

There are areas of the city that are near food deserts. We need to encourage economic expansion in the areas where we are building large housing developments.

Finally, we need to do something about Internet access throughout the City of Rio Rancho. Right now, we suffer with expensive, sub-par services. If you can get the service in Albuquerque or Santa Fe, we should be able to get it in the City of Rio Rancho.
I believe that government should help people, and you cannot help people if you do not communicate with them. City Councilors should not only reach out to people when they want people’s votes. I will hold regular office hours within District 4 to be accessible to the people. I intend to employ various communication strategies like newsletters, mailers, social media posts, websites, and neighborhood events. I will be present and active in District 4 to meet the needs of District 4 residents.

I am the current sitting City Councilor for District 4. My 4 years in office make me the most qualified candidate for the position. I have learned the details required of a City Councilor including coordinating with staff, other elected and appointed officials, and most importantly, the citizens of Rio Rancho. Prior to being elected to the seat, I served on the Planning and Zoning Board for the City for approximately 6 years, ultimately becoming the Chair of the Board.
Over the past 4 years, I have been a part of implementing many new City initiatives and projects that have resulted in a very successful running City. The City is in the best financial condition it has ever been, earning flawless audits and an upgrade to our bond rating. Police and Fire are highly respected in the community. Several new quality of life projects have been provided to benefit the community. My top priority will be to build on these successes and initiate new, where beneficial.
The City currently meets or exceeds all Federal Government standards for water quality. Water availability is governed in part by the State of New Mexico which mandates when additional water rights must be acquired. Additionally, the City has implemented a water injection process where purified re-use water is injected into the aquifer. This process, plus water rights acquisitions, insures there will be sufficient water quantity for the foreseeable future.
Proposed new projects are first evaluated for traffic impact on the City's streets by industry standard Engineering practices. Projects meeting or exceeding the thresholds are required to make improvements to existing infrastructure based on the impacts added traffic will have. Can or should more be done? As funding is available, the City has been and will continue to implement such improvements. Recent improvements to King Blvd. is one example. Upcoming widening of Northern is another.
Fiscal responsibility and transparency of government has always been a top priority of mine and will remain so if re-elected. The City should continue to invest in quality of life projects that benefit its citizens. Re-development of the old golf course property will be a task that the Council will need to evaluate in the near future. Once a Master Plan has been submitted, I look forward to working with all parties who have an interest in the outcome of the overall project.
It has been my policy to return every call and/or message I receive from my constituents. If I don't have an immediate answer, I research the issue and report back to the person who contacted me. I will continue this practice if re-elected. The answer I provide may not always be the one that the individual wants to hear but I believe it is important to respond with the information that is available. A strategy can then be discussed on possible changes moving forward.
