County governments are responsible statewide to handle emergency management in each of their respective counties. Coordination and planning of responses to severe weather conditions is continuously carried out through Brazos County Emergency Management staff. The county maintains the Brazos County Emergency Operations Center in downtown Bryan in conjunction with the cities of Bryan, College Station and Texas A&M University. I am proud to serve as a member of the CEOC Board.
A vast and diversified experience in local government. I have been a CSISD School Board member (12 yrs) College Station City Council member (3 yrs) and Brazos County Commissioner (7 yrs). I am also a local business owner and understand the needs of businesses in our community. I have demonstrated my passion and ability to control and limit property taxes paid by Brazos County residents, businesses and property owners.
Essential responsibilities of county government must be met in a way that benefits citizens at the least possible cost to them.

In addition to building and maintaining county roads, the county must operate and maintain the county jail, sheriff’s patrol, judicial system, justices of the peace, constables, county clerk, district clerk, public defender, district attorney, county attorney, Expo Center, Brazos Center, emergency management.

All of these responsibilities must be met in a prudent, efficient and equitable way to benefit all of the citizens of Brazos County. This is what the Commissioners Court does on an annual basis by preparing the county budget and setting an appropriate tax rate to support that budget.

First, multimedia public safety messages should be distributed to ensure those who can protect themselves are informed. Second, working with utility companies, non-profit organizations, local authorities, hospitals, the disabled, elderly, or infirmed should be identified so they may be assisted, sheltered and protected. Finally, restoration of services after the worst has past must be managed properly

A) Public safety is government’s first responsibility. Infrastructure to allow free and easy public and commercial access to all parts of the county. (B) Safety net services to those who cannot otherwise care for themselves. (C) Finally other services that enhance the quality of life for our citizens.
My background has prepared me to be an effective leader on the Court, where one must engage and work constructively and collaboratively with your fellow Commissioner. My experience as a servant prepares me to be a good steward for the taxpayers, carefully evaluating priorities and exercising prudence in spending to the benefit all our citizens
