One of the greatest challenges we are likely to face in Colorado County is growth. Growth is likely the most important change that is coming and will effect everyone countywide, whether you are in the cities or in rural areas. Growth brings revenue which will provide for an increase in budget and an increase in budget provides for an increase in improvements. These things allow for growth within several of various political subdivisions within the county which will allow them to better accommodate our citizens. It is important to help manage the needs for the citizens of our county by helping manage the funding for our officers, emergency response and volunteer fire departments insuring they have adequate funding for their services.
Colorado county can maintain its small-town feel and local charm, even through this inevitable growth in our area. Colorado county is the type of place where everyone knows who you are , especially if you hold a local office. I believe that the simple act of interacting with county tax payers in the effort to understand their wants and needs will help to maintain local character. With that in mind, we also need to keep in mind that growth can be a good thing that can bring revenue to our county. With revenue comes the opportunity for improvement. One thing that could be pushed towards is recycle stations to better improve on the environment and natural resources. It is important to be transparent with the taxpayers funds and their use.
