Upholding my oath to uphold the Constitution of the United States of America, and ensuring fair and equitable service to all residents without prejudice or discrimination.
I have over 24 years of law enforcement experience, all served within Colorado County. I have a Master Peace Officer license and have almost 20 years of experience supervising officers. I have a passion for criminal investigations and specialize in crimes against women and children. This is a passion I hope to pass on to many deputies to continue holding offender accountable.
The biggest issue facing law enforcement across the board is deputy/jailer/dispatcher recruitment and retention. As such, I will consistently work to ensure equal and fair pay to all department employees as well as identify and develop employee performance expectations so that each employee knows their value and worth within the department. Another important issue I would like to highlight is the need for communication. I will make myself available across the county to the citizens whether by phone, in person, or at local events so that you have a sheriff you can depend on, trust and with whom you can openly communicate your needs and expectations.

The responsibilities in the role of Sheriff are vast, including the Patrol Deputies, Jail operations, Civil Division, the Communication / Dispatch Center, and Courthouse Security. All of these are equally important and much like the day-to-day functions of running a business. However, to choose what is most important, I believe my sworn duty to uphold the Constitution and its values, along with my duty to maintain a fair and honest justice system are the most important.
Almost my entire career has been served working in this county for the Sheriff’s office. I began my tenure as a Patrol Deputy, and have risen through the ranks to Chief Deputy. I have been trained, regularly, on issues such as mental health, legislative updates, auto theft, criminal investigation, and extensive rapid response training for schools and other mass gatherings. Nearly 14 years of time on the job and in this department have given me both an understanding of how this office is run, and a vision for where I want to take it.
All issues this office faces are important, and to place priority over one above the rest is difficult. As a community leader, I listen to all concerns and treat them with equal importance and priority. One issue that does have some precedent, is the continuing growth in our county; and the ability for our department along with others, to respond to this growth effectively and efficiently.
