I currently hold a City Council seat after being appointed to the position under Mayor Sean Seger in March 2022, I was subsequently voted in office in the November 2022 election. I have a passion for community service and feel that because of my strong sense of community and collaboration, I feel I truly understand the citizens of Morenci. My career in hospital finance, contracting and revenue integrity provide the skills and knowledge to understand budgets and fiscal responsibility. The most important responsibility as a city council member is to always put community first by being financially conscientious as well as forward thinking.
Downtown development and housing are both areas of interest to me. I would like to see a vacant building ordinance be drafted to help keep our business areas safe and attractive for community and investors alike. Downtowns are the heart of a city and a vibrant and well occupied downtown area enhances the community as a whole. Morenci also has a housing shortage, and I would like to favorable steps taken to mitigate the shortages so that we can attract new families and homeowners to our community.
As a member of City Council, I can discuss hard issues so that I may best understand the viewpoint of all community members. I feel that holding public office comes with great responsibility to be honest and forthright. As a council member, and more importantly a citizen of Morenci, community involvement, team work and communication are key to representing citizens. Being involved in multiple community clubs and organizations outside of council provides opportunities to connect and collaborate.
We have made so many positive steps to bringing in new residents in my 3 years on council by supporting the efforts of our Community and Economic Director with the Stevenson Park project, Master Plan Project, and housing projects. I have also consistently voted to improve public safety for various fire, police and EMS projects and improvements and major improvements for water and sewer. Understanding planning and setting long term goals and pathways to accomplishing those goals are important for continuous improvement. Every step leads to another, and continually moving forward will attract, and retain new residences.

I am a college educated nurse. In school, a well rounded knowledge and education was mandatory. I feel that my qualifications are from my love and loyalty to my city. I’ve served the citizens of Morenci for over 5 years. I have significant knowledge of the needs of our city and a vested interest in our success.
My goal is to always put my city first. To assist the management of the city to grow and prosper not only the businesses but our citizens as well.
We have had lengthy discussions regarding taping city council meetings. I believe that will happen in the near future. I am available to our citizens via phone, email, appointment or social media. I am always willing to answer questions and have discussions about the day to day or long term goals of the city. As a council member, I am an integral part of city plans and goals. We work together as a collaborative group to improve our fine city.
We have developed goals, both long term and short term to help our business owners and citizens day to day lives to improve. Attracting new businesses is paramount at this time. By holding events and community outreach, we are together making Morenci a city that people want to move to. Our motto in Morenci of “One Team, One Town, One Family” isn’t just something we say, it’s something we strive to live. Alone we can accomplish smaller things, but together we can accomplish greatness.
