I am a graduate of the US Coast Guard Chief Petty Officers Academy and led a team of 15 people. I was a police sergeant and supervised a team of officers. Additionally, my career as a South Carolina Law Enforcement special agent required a high level of responsibility and leadership.
My focus would be on the senior population of our city and their needs.
Strong public safety would be a priority in order continue keeping the city safe.
Focused and responsible growth while maintaining the charm, traditions, and history of Travelers Rest would be a priority.
Utilizing impact studies and public input to make sure the infrastructure such as utilities, roads, and city services are capable of handling proposed development are strategies that allow responsible growth that benefit everyone.
Controlling the density of proposed housing through zoning, design approval, and access to services is paramount to successful, affordable housing. Affordable housing does not have to mean cheap, run down, and crime ridden neighborhoods. Having well funded public works, police, and fire departments help ensure neighborhoods can be affordable while not becoming the slums of tomorrow.

My leadership experience includes 25 years in the fire service with 8 years as a line officer and 9 years as a Deputy Chief managing 4 stations with 25 men. I have also served as Chairman of Deacons as well as Chairman of Finance at various times at church. Currently I am an office manager at reputable roofing company.
1. Balanced sustainable growth
2. Community Safety
3. Improving infrastructure
I would support being very selective on the types of development allowed with special attention given to the long term impacts they will have on our city.
Affordable housing is a heavy challenge for our city- families are being priced out and we need solutions that work for everyone. With currently 302 approved units across 7 housing complexes in the city it appears the council is striving to come up with solutions. I think the city council should continue to seek to bring all parties including city officials, developers and possible partnerships with non-profits to the table for future projects. At the same time, we must protect our neighborhoods from overdevelopment and ensure the future projects are funded responsibly through public-private collaborations and not just with taxpayer dollars.

I know what it’s like to roll up my sleeves and get to work for my community. I’ve led neighbors in cleaning up our streets, helped small businesses grow, and built networks that connect people who care about the planet and each other. Leadership to me isn’t about titles; it’s about listening, showing up, and making sure everyone feels heard. Whether through my nonprofit, my business, or everyday conversations, I lead with heart, kindness, and a belief that together we can build a safer, stronger, more connected Travelers Rest.
If elected, my top three priorities will be Smart Growth, Safer Streets, and Strong Community. Smart Growth means guiding development so our small-town charm is preserved while making room for families and businesses to thrive. Safer Streets means addressing traffic, walkability, and ensuring our police, fire, and EMT services grow with us. Strong Community means building trust between City Hall and residents, supporting our local businesses, and creating spaces and events that bring us together. At the heart of all three is my commitment to keep Travelers Rest a place we’re proud to call home.
Travelers Rest is growing, but growth shouldn’t come at the cost of losing the charm of our city for the sake of dollars. I support strategies that focus on smart, thoughtful development like making sure new projects include green space, good sidewalks, and safe traffic flow. We also need to plan ahead so our vital services, like police, fire, and EMT, keep up with growth. By working closely with residents and businesses, we can guide development in a way that strengthens our community, protects what makes TR special, and ensures that growth adds to our quality of life instead of taking away from it.
That new development of 300+ homes starting at $700,000 may be just outside city limits, but it still impacts Travelers Rest. When houses cost that much, teachers, first responders, and working families can’t afford to live here. City Council must not only push for affordable housing inside our limits but also plan for smart annexation so we have space for it in the future. If we don’t, we’ll end up with more of these situations where only high-priced homes are built. Affordable housing is about protecting the heart of TR and making sure it stays home for all of us.
I was elected to City Council in Nov. 2023, and currently serve on the Public Works committee. I recently graduated from the Municipal Elected Officials Institute of Government, a multi-part training program covering topics such as Municipal Governance, Budgeting and Finance, and Policy. In my profession, I serve as Senior Vice President of Marketing for Greenville Federal Credit Union. Additionally, I serve as President of the Roper Mountain Science Center Association Board of Directors and Vice-Chair of the Greenville County Schools Foundation Board of Directors, and am a member of Leadership Greenville, Class 49. I graduated from Furman University and am currently pursuing an M.B.A. degree from Gardner-Webb University.
Priority one is to ensure critical infrastructure investments are prioritized in any development planning. I believe sustainable, community-driven growth should only happen when it aligns with our comprehensive plan and infrastructure capacity. Another priority will be to review and strengthen our zoning ordinances to ensure that they protect Travelers Rest's natural environment and unique characteristics. And finally, I will insist upon transparency and timely communication of potential proposals and projects and set high standards for accountability in our planning processes. To me this is foundational in maintaining trust with citizens, so they can be confident I am representing their best interests.
All cities in Greenville County must be intentional in scaling the capacity of city services and infrastructure to meet the expected future demand. In Travelers Rest we are already feeling the impacts of this growth in the increased volume of vehicles coming through our city at peak traffic times. Effective traffic management requires a combination of strategies, including investment in infrastructure and transportation alternatives, but also leveraging technology to influence travel behavior and improve how cars get through our city. This will require a collaborative effort with our county partners, State legislators, SCDOT, and surrounding cities to come together and find creative solutions for managing and reducing congestion as we grow.
Public-private partnerships can help address housing affordability, and municipalities should be a part of the solution. It is important to have housing that is attainable for our teachers, first responders, and workforce. Working with area housing organizations that can provide grant funding for attainable housing solutions is critical for smaller cities like Travelers Rest. City Council could consider less restrictive zoning to allow for mixed-use development and offer incentives to encourage inclusion of a certain percentage of affordable units and diverse housing types for different income segments within new developments. Additionally the city could create an affordable housing fund for future development.

The last three years on City Council has given me experience in working with citizens, developers, fellow councilmembers, and staff. I am, also, a finance director at a non-profit organization, and have been integral in helping my husband run a successful business for almost 20 years.
My three priorities are:
1. Smart, sustainable growth that aligns with our comprehensive plan.
2. Walkable streetscapes with safety of pedestrians, cyclists, and motor vehicles in mind.
3. Continued beautification of the downtown corridor to keep Travelers Rest quaint for residents and visitors alike while attracting local businesses to the area.
I would be supportive of a development impact fee. Property taxes cannot sustain the impact of development on the schools, roads, and infrastructure. A development impact fee would help alleviate the burden of new developments on existing infrastructure without adding additional taxes to the taxpayers who live here.
Affordable housing is an issue in many municipalities due to supply and demand in the housing market. As we have seen in Travelers Rest, zoning for density and mixed-use developments have not brought down the cost of housing. We need to find other ways to incentivize developers with public and private partnerships to help fill the need for affordable housing in Travelers Rest.
