Aaron J. Chesher for Adrian City Commissioner
Education
I graduated from Adrian High school in 2015. Enrolled at Jackson College to pursue a degree in Public Leadership & Administration.
A Commissioner must listen to residents and represent; it’s our job to make sure those ideas and concerns are respected and acted upon. While in the US Air Force Auxiliary Civil Air Patrol, an advanced leadership program, I placed in the top 15% of leaders in the nation. CAP taught me the importance of communication, collaboration, servant leadership, executive operations, and risk management. I earned leadership awards such as, Non-Commissioned Officer Leadership Award and VFW Officer of the Year Award. As a preschool teacher, patience, listening, and the ability to meet people where they are, is a must.
Pursuing greater transparency and communication with residents by bringing City Chambers to you with neighborhood town halls. Pursuing bilingual access and signage. Support low-income homes with blight management through city-funded grants and mutual aid collaboratives. Working with Chad Baugh and Chief Emrick to aid residents that are vulnerable to ICE raids. Support businesses instead of relying on large chain-businesses that leave Adrian vulnerable for tremendous losses when they close. Staffing a full Human Relations Commission.
I will bring City Hall to the neighborhoods to ensure every side of town and neighborhood knows what is going on if there is a project happening in their backyards; for central issues as well, to always meet residents where they are. I will bring that feedback to the table. I will also ensure that bilingual accessibility is a major priority so that residents feel their city culture is welcoming, receptive, inclusive, and aware of the diverse needs of its residents. Residents should be able to communicate with a city staff member who is bilingual and receive information about their city in their first language.
I will work with local businesses that feel left-out of DDA decisions and support new businesses in navigating city requirements. Adrian lacks sustainable jobs with professional growth; I will support initiatives to decrease chain businesses that dominate our commerce and don’t provide the jobs necessary to attract and retain new residents, and seek out quality entertainment and enriching opportunities for all ages in our numerous empty businesses downtown. Investing in the people who live here- their homes, their businesses, their goals- and improve their quality of life for us will successfully retain new residents in the future.

Commissioner Gordon Gauss
Education
B.A. in Accountancy from Adrian College, MBA in Finance from Pepperdine University
My college degrees in accounting and finance coupled with my career as a corporate executive, provide the leadership skills, financial expertise and community service experience that make me the best candidate for this position. Serving on the Adrian City Commission and Planning Commission, I've worked to reduce blight, improve our streets, and keep our neighborhoods safe. My leadership is rooted in collaboration, listening to citizens at events, meetings, and around their kitchen tables. The most important responsibility of a commissioner is to make fair, transparent decisions that improve the quality of life for all Adrian residents.
My priorities are to continue tackling blight, invest in safe streets, and strengthen neighborhoods. I’ve supported holding owners of problem properties accountable and will keep working to revitalize blocks while protecting and increasing property values. I’ll partner with residents, local businesses, nonprofits, and county leaders to create practical, community-driven solutions. By building these collaborative partnerships and listening closely to citizen input, I will keep Adrian moving forward with policies that reflect our shared values.
Accountability means more than listening — it requires action. I will ensure city information is clear and accessible, support transparent budgeting and decision-making processes, and keep residents updated through meetings, community events, and direct communication. I will also continue using my Facebook page “Commissioner Gordon Gauss” and my website gordongauss.com to share updates and hear from residents. My goal is to strengthen trust by making government transparent, responsive, and focused on delivering results.
Adrian’s growth must balance opportunity with quality of life. I will support new housing, good jobs, and downtown revitalization while ensuring services and infrastructure keep pace. At the same time, we must invest in parks, schools, and community programs that make Adrian a welcoming place for families. Thoughtful development, paired with safe neighborhoods and vibrant community life, will help Adrian attract new residents and remain a strong, affordable city where our citizens want to live, work and play.

Chip Moore for city council
Education
Michigan State University Political Science ,Army ROTC
I have been involved in the business world before computers, my parents taught me customer service. I have been running Adrian Insurance since 1984. Dealing with customers has opened my eyes with dealing with the public. With owning three buildings downtown Adrian, I have had many experiences with dealing with Adrian city officials over the years some good some bad. I want to be a common sense voice to the taxpayers. My goal is to change the negative view of Adrian, and make Adrian a place where we are proud to live and work in a safe environment.
To work with the mayor and city manager to make Adrian a place to be proud of. Communication is the key to any successful organization
Change the format of the city council meetings. Taxpayers should be able to questions the city council and city manager before any vote in the open.
Listening to the current Adrian City business leaders and owners. I am a capitalist and let the free market dictate our success. Adrian College brings in new residents every year. Make Adrian a vibrant city so upon graduation, some might want to stay to work or start new businesses. With Siena Heights University closing, the city should work with them to find an opportunity to replace the university.

Education
Graduated from Napoleon Community High School and Completed a trade course at Lansing Community Collage.
Where I lack in formal higher education. I've worked several jobs dealing directly with the public and with different areas of local, state and federal agencies. Along with the last several years of attending all but a few Commissioner and Planning meetings has increased my knowledge what's going on in the city's governmental offices. I've spent my spare time reading up on the city's charter and ordinances and the international codes that are integrated into our ordinances.
As for specific goals there's many areas of the city that need improvement. Many will say housing, crime and blight and bringing more businesses to the city. I say they would all be excellent goals. My goal is to bring a different point of view and ideas on how to make the goals possible.
Make sure that any items that goes in front of the council has been communicated to the public in all ways possible before they vote on them. Sometimes running things the common groups of people, you can get a clear picture of what most people want to happen in the community. How will I communicate/interact/represent the interests of citizens. I would speak to as many citizens as possible and listen to as many sides of the community. and relay their comments and concerns to the other council members.
First off, the city of Adrian is approximately 45 minutes from any bigger city that has more industrial jobs. I believe that we have work on getting more jobs within the city. As for attracting new residents, we need to have more affordable housing. Whether it be the rehabilitation of the older homes or the building of new homes.
