City councils have a broad range of duties and responsibilities, primarily acting as the local legislative body and overseeing various aspects of city government. They are responsible for enacting laws, approving budgets, setting tax rates, and overseeing city services and departments. City councils also represent constituents, engage in planning and zoning, and may oversee the hiring and firing of city employees.City Councilors attend one monthly committee meeting and two legislative meetings most months. Those meetings are held in the evenings. Each Council member is chair of a standing Council committee. They are also a member of two other committees. Additionally, they may be appointed to represent Council on other boards.

Housing affordability, homelessness, and public safety are the most pressing issues that Lancaster City is facing. These are issues that affect city residents’ daily lives on which the City Council can act in the best interest of the city. If reelected, I will push for policies that expand deeply affordable housing options, strengthen tenant protections, and support nonprofits doing this work. I will focus on public safety strategies that build trust between the community and law enforcement while promoting transparency and accountability. I will advocate for additional shelters, better access to mental health services, more affordable housing initiatives, and work with nonprofits to help individual regain stability and independence.
If reelected, I am committed to tackling racial disparities in housing, health, economic opportunities, and community policing. I will be focused on a budget that reflects fairness, equity, and community's priorities. I will advocate for stronger renter protections, investing in underserved neighborhoods, and a new approach to public safety. We need to rethink how we approach public safety. My work will continue to be guided by the values of equity, inclusion, and service. I believe every resident deserves a voice in their government and access to opportunities. I will push for policies that close racial gaps, not widen them. Equitable development is one of my priorities. We can’t move forward as a city if we’re leaving communities behind.
I am always open to new or different perspectives. Disagreement can be an opportunity to make some changes in the best interest of our community. Collaboration is essential. I am always willing to listen, and I stand firm when necessary. I will continue building strong relationships with my colleagues and city leaders to ensure that we work effectively. By focusing on shared goals and maintaining open lines of communication, we can make meaningful progress on the issues that matter most to Lancaster residents. If reelected, I will continue to bring the needs and the voices of my community to the table, work harder to deliver results. With open communication and collaboration, I'll find a common ground in the best interest of our city.
Affordable housing, public safety, fair wages are the most common issues. Like having access to healthcare, housing is also a basic human right. People are concerned about housing, for instance rising rent, displacement, gentrification, and homelessness. City residents want jobs that pay enough to live. Many City residents are frustrated with how development happens in our city; they want to see growth that benefits everyone, not just a few. They want to see our city invest in the people who live here, not just big developers or outside interests. They also want to live in a city where they feel safe and respected. I remain deeply committed to expanding affordable housing options, improving public safety, and promoting good paying jobs.

Lancaster City is facing a mix of old challenges and new ones that are starting to pile up. Affordable housing is a huge concern—rent keeps going up, but wages aren’t keeping pace, and that’s pushing longtime residents out. It’s creating real pressure on working families.

Public safety is another one. While crime overall isn’t out of control, there are pockets where people don’t feel safe, and the relationship between the community and law enforcement still needs work. Folks want to feel protected, but also respected.
1. Fair and Equitable Housing: We need stronger tenant protections and more affordable housing developments that don’t displace current residents. That includes inclusionary zoning, support for community land trusts, and prioritizing local ownership over outside developers.

2. Police Accountability & Community Safety: We’ve got to keep pushing for transparency in policing—real civilian oversight, better training on de-escalation and bias, and continued investment in alternative response models like mental health crisis teams. Safety shouldn’t mean fear—it should mean trust.
I know we’re not always going to agree on every policy, and that’s okay. What matters is how we handle those disagreements. I’ll always come to the table with respect, a willingness to listen, and a focus on finding common ground.

At the end of the day, we all want what’s best for Lancaster—we might just have different ideas on how to get there. I’m committed to staying rooted in facts, community voices, and doing what’s right, even when it’s not easy.
1. Housing affordability – People are really feeling the pressure. Rent is too high, and even folks who’ve lived here for years are worried about getting priced out. There’s a strong sense that Lancaster needs to do more to protect renters and create affordable housing options that actually reflect local incomes.

2. Community safety – Residents want to feel safe in their neighborhoods, but they’re also looking for a more thoughtful approach to public safety. They’re asking for more mental health support, youth programs, and community-based responses—not just more police.
