We are fortunate in Newtown Borough to have a community where people take pride in their surroundings, celebrate our small town feel, and support our local businesses. I would like to see more opportunities for neighbors to get together and I believe the Borough can help in that regard. I'd like to support and help create 3rd spaces where community can engage, such as parks, walking trails, public events, and promotion of our civic associations. We have already been successful in securing grants to move forward on these initiatives, and I plan to work with both our business district and our neighbors to both maintain our small town historic feel while opening up opportunities for us all to share our wonderful communal spaces.
After being on Borough Council since last summer, I realize what a dedicated group of neighbors can do when we work together to solve problems, address issues, and create opportunities for us all. I have always has a zeal for civic duty, and feel an obligation to give back to the community I dearly care about.
I am currently one of the Newtown Borough Councilors in Ward 2 so already am serving on Borough Council. Prior to serving on Council, I was both PTO President and Vice President of my children's elementary school and President and Vice President of my local Civic Association in Strafford Village. I have been fortunate to work with teams of volunteers who have been dedicated to the betterment of their organizations. Our current Borough Council works extremely well together on a variety of issues and the Borough has benefited greatly from our team approach to resolving issues and creating opportunities. I plan to continue learning from my fellow Councilors and working successfully on behalf of my Ward 2 neighbors.
