The position of City Council presents an incredible opportunity, particularly as I pursue a career in political science. With my strong leadership experience, effective communication skills, and ability to collaborate with peers and colleagues, I am confident in my ability to represent my district and serve as a proactive voice for their needs. My passion for public service and a strong work ethic will enable me to contribute meaningfully to the City Council. I am eager to apply these qualities to help address the challenges and opportunities and support our community.
As I step into this position, my top three priorities are addressing the unsheltered population in La Crosse, ensuring affordable housing for both students and residents and enhancing public safety within my district. I will work closely with the City Council, city planner office, and residents in my district to find effective solutions for the unsheltered community, advocate for sustainable housing options that are accessible to all, and prioritize improvements to public transportation and road safety.
To address the unsheltered population in La Crosse, I will collaborate with the City Council to continue and evaluate the Pathways Home project, ensuring its effectiveness. On affordable housing, I will work closely with fellow council members and the City Planner to assess the current status and plans, advocating for necessary improvements. To enhance public safety, I will engage directly with district residents to identify areas where they feel unsafe and prioritize improvements such as installing stoplights, creating pedestrian-friendly pathways, and enhancing public transportation services.
