Four year in the Marine Corps with the infantry.
I bring over 27 years of experience in law enforcement in Collin County, along with prior service in the United States Marine Corps. Throughout my career, I have worked closely with courts, prosecutors, defense attorneys, and multiple law enforcement agencies. This experience has given me a strong understanding of due process, constitutional rights, and the importance of applying the law fairly and consistently. My background has prepared me to make sound, independent decisions and to run a courtroom that is professional, efficient, and respectful to everyone.
I will make the court accessible by focusing on clear communication, consistency, and respect. Court procedures should be explained in plain language so people understand what is happening and what is expected of them. When people feel informed and treated fairly, the court works better for everyone.
As the county grows, it is important to manage cases in an organized and consistent way. I will focus on clear procedures, efficient scheduling, and timely case review so matters move through the court without unnecessary delay. Applying the law consistently ensures cases are handled fairly while keeping up with a growing workload.
Some of the most pressing issues for Justice of the Peace courts are public trust, efficiency, and helping people understand the court process. Addressing these issues supports the court’s core role by ensuring decisions are fair, predictable, and respected by the public.
I have served 35 years With Collin County. The first eight were with the Sheriff’s Officer as a Criminal Investigator, then Justice of the Peace, Precinct 1 for 27 years. I am a graduate of the College of Justice Court Judges, hold extensive legal education hours, and am involved with professional associations such as the Texas Justice Court Judges Association. My experience includes serving as Administrative Judge for all county Justice Courts, training other judges, and volunteering in the community.
Since 1999, I’ve moved the court toward paperless operations, upgraded technology without taxpayer cost, and ensured direct phone access to staff. I continue pursuing new technologies like remote appearances to further improve service.
To address rising caseloads from population growth, I will seek non-public funding for technology upgrades to improve efficiency and accessibility.
Managing caseloads and providing ongoing education for judges are key challenges as jurisdiction expands. I support continuous training and resources to ensure Justice Courts adapt effectively.
