I believe our city is doing everything it cans to meet the need of the hosuing crisis. Making sure there is oversight that the need of people who need affordable housing is met. Having strong oversight in the process of these projects and who runs them.
as we grow, there is a need for more officers. aand a better plan on infastructure. also making sure the roads are up to code and standard for pedestrian and bikers.... make sure ther are need repairs on high road and pheasant branch road also.
senior citizens and the library should be our first priority concerning this project. als making sure we do not put a strain on our citizens especialyy seniors, when we look at the cost and the taxes it would cost to make this happen. re visit the cost before making a quick rush to decison and approval......
fair and afffordable housing, safe roads and overcrowding in the development of new housing projects. make it so that those who have invested most of there lives in this city can afford to stay and live here and also purchase a home here.

Over the past few years, the City has updated its zoning ordinance and provided various incentives to help address our affordable housing needs. More recently, the collaborative work of the CDA, Workforce Housing Committee, and city staff has culminated in the preparation of an excellent Housing Action Plan that is slated for adoption in April, following public input. I support the plan’s roadmap of action steps, starting with the establishment of the Affordable Housing Fund, to help reduce the 35% of renters and 29% of homeowners who spend >30% of their gross income on housing costs.
My decisions as an alder will be informed by constituent input and by consulting adopted city plans, which need to be updated regularly. Middleton’s Comprehensive Plan identifies goals, strategies, and short, medium, and long-term actions to help achieve the vision of the city as “a sustainable, urban community with an exceptional quality of life that is rooted in environmental stewardship.”

We must balance growth with preservation, maintain excellent public services without overburdening taxpayers, and ensure our neighborhoods remain safe, connected, and welcoming as the city evolves.
City officials have developed design concepts, tax rate mitigation strategies, and financing plan scenarios of a campus project ranging from $65 million to $110 million. The campus needs to be right-sized, sustainably designed, and fully accessible. I would like the future building(s) to emphasize the use of flexible spaces so that there is no longer a room like the current council chambers that is so limited in its use (e.g., just a couple weekday evenings). I will scrutinize the project for additional ways to reduce anticipated project costs, and I will continue to listen to public input.
Housing affordability, downtown community campus, public safety (incl. pedestrian and bicyclist safety), and minimizing property tax increases.

District-specific: * Reconstruction of High Rd; * Traffic studies along Century Ave, Old Creek/Pheasant Branch Rds, and Donna Dr; * Pedestrian and bicycle connections (espec. along Graber Rd.) * Mgmt of conservancy land connecting Graber Pond w/ Pheasant Branch.

The new Housing Action Plan and other city plans inform future decisions. I will continue Ald. Janairo's stellar practice of publishing monthly e-newsletters to inform and encourage feedback.
