I currently serve as Vice President of the Hays CISD School Board, one of the fastest-growing school districts in Texas. Hays CISD is one of the largest employers in Hays County and oversees a budget larger than that of county government, requiring careful leadership and prioritization. I am also an active community volunteer and have been involved in local Democratic politics, focused on strengthening civic engagement and public service. I hold both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in political science from Texas State University, which has provided a strong foundation in governance.
I believe a county commissioner’s job is to keep residents safe, be a good steward of taxpayer dollars, and deliver essential services. With Hays County set to exceed 300,000 residents, planning for the future is critical. Precinct 2 residents deserve safe, reliable roads that keep pace with growth. Roads connect families to work, school, health care, and emergency services, and falling behind costs taxpayers more. County government must also invest in public health, plan responsibly for growth, and ensure policies reflect Hays County’s values of fairness, equality, and transparency.
My number one priority as county commissioner is fixing roads in Precinct 2. Many roads have not been properly addressed in decades, even as growth has accelerated. This neglect is no longer acceptable. Safe, reliable roads are essential for daily life, emergency response, and economic activity. As a school board trustee, I understand that good roads around current and future campuses are critical. Residents in Precinct 2 deserve good roads, and I will prioritize fair, proactive investment to address long-standing needs.
Preserving Hays County’s water supply requires responsible growth, updating old water infrastructure, regional partnerships to expand access, and strong protection of the Edwards and Trinity aquifers. I will advocate with the state for more local control to encourage developers to prioritize water conservation and responsible building. We must do more than talk, we must lead with creative solutions, like implementing the One Water Model in future facilities, reducing usage, and ensuring clean, reliable water for current and future residents.
I have 30 years of experience providing expert guidance to individuals and businesses. I am a licensed IRS Enrolled Agent, which qualifies me as a tax expert. My experience includes building and balancing budgets from the ground up, representing clients in audits, and guiding people and businesses through high-pressure financial situations. I have negotiated business contracts, including purchase, sale, and lease agreements, both for my own businesses and for clients who are business owners. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Business and an Associate’s degree in Behavioral Science.
The most important responsibility of a County Commissioner is being a good steward of hard-working families’ tax dollars. Fiscal responsibility is how we restore and protect affordability as Hays County continues to grow. That responsibility requires experience, sound judgment, and an understanding of how financial decisions affect real people. Commissioners must be ready to make tough decisions efficiently and responsibly. This role requires someone with decades of experience to meet the challenges our county faces.
My top priority is affordability for the hard-working families of Hays County. We address that by being fiscally responsible and ending wasteful spending, so tax dollars are used carefully and intentionally. As County Commissioner, I bring the experience needed to do that. I have spent years working at the table with multiple parties, helping people agree on priorities, timelines, and practical next steps. I will also focus on fixing and maintaining our roads, especially on the east side of IH-35, and strengthening emergency preparedness and communication as our county continues to grow.
While cities and utility districts manage water supply, the county plays an important role in long-term planning and coordination. As Commissioner, I would support strong collaboration with cities, water providers, and regional partners to plan responsibly for growth, protect aquifers and recharge areas, and ensure development does not outpace our water resources.
