First, we will work with City of Madison in consolidating some services between the City of Madison and the Dane County government with my experience at Kenosha County.
We will ask every department to justify spending based on results, eliminating inefficiencies, and modernizing how services are delivered.
We must protect core services—public safety, human services, public health, and infrastructure—especially for seniors, working families, and our most vulnerable residents.
We will provide transparency and engagement.
Finally, we must continue to advocate at the state level.
Housing costs keep rising, and families are being priced out. Goodwill will fight for:
- County Workforce & Affordable Housing Fund to create more homes middle-income families can afford
- Expanded rental assistance to prevent evictions and homelessness
- Smarter zoning and faster permitting to increase housing supply
- Legal aid for tenants facing sudden eviction
- More “middle housing” options (duplexes, triplexes, quads)
Lower the Cost of Childcare
- Expand childcare aid for families
- Support childcare centers to keep doors open
- Help working parents stay in the workforce
Affordable Housing You Can Actually Afford
- Build more workforce housing
- Expand rental assistance
- Protect tenants from predatory evictions
- Smart zoning to stop rising rents
Ensuring Safe and Accessible streets, sidewalks and parking lots during Snow/Winter
- No one deserves to get hurt or have their freedom taken away due to improper snow removal
- We must prioritize ADA-critical routes (Bus stops, paratransit pickup zones, hospital

Balancing this year’s budget wasn't easy. We had a $31 million hole to plug, but we did it without laying off a single county worker or cutting the core services you rely on. When there is a will, there is a way, and the budget compromise I supported, helped us realize that. As we move toward the 2027 budget process, prioritizing the 'must-haves'—like public safety, infrastructure improvements, road repairs, and mental health support—while finding ways to be more efficient and build revenue opportunities continues to be my focus. This year was a harbinger and a learning experience for 2027.
Several supervisors and I have worked on a three-prong approach Production (building new), Preservation (saving what we have), and Pathways (addressing immediate homelessness). Building upon our current initiatives including the Affordable Housing Development Fund (ADHF), Fair Chance Housing Fund (FCHF), and Farmworker Housing Initiative is a focus of mine. I also support the Bartillon Drive Men’s Shelter is Madison's first purpose-built shelter, and the 2026 budget includes $1.06 million for its operations. It’s designed to provide 24/7 wrap around services, not just a bed.
At the end of the day, my job isn't just to sit in committee after committee meeting; it’s to listen, to understand and to ensure. Whether I’m fighting for our parks to stay accessible or making sure our justice system is actually just, I’m looking for the "lived experience" in the room. By focusing on housing, health, and a sustainable budget, we aren't just managing a county—we are authoring a future where everyone finally has a seat at the table...this is what matters to the residents of the County, from stories they have shared and needs they have expressed.
As an educator (college professor) and storyteller (producer), I know that every line item in a budget is actually a chapter in someone’s life. When I talk to my constituents in District 16 and beyond, their priorities aren't just abstract concepts—they are about the fundamental right to live with dignity. Bridging generations and building best practices and consensus across demographic divides is something I have committed my career and public service work toward accomplishing. It is an honor and responsibility to serve ALL people of Dane County.
