Dane County faces a structural deficit in 2027 driven by rising health care costs and declining sales tax revenue. In the 2026 budget, I prioritized protecting our most vulnerable residents by reducing cuts to nonprofit human service providers, funding the opening of the new purpose-built men’s shelter, supporting emergency shelter on the coldest nights, and restoring funding for an immigration affairs social worker. To fund this, I supported an equitable 4% reduction across departments by freezing 20 long-vacant Sheriff’s Department positions that data showed would be difficult to fill.
During my tenure on the County Board, we have more than tripled the Affordable Housing Development Fund. I support partnering with community-based organizations, including land trusts, to create permanently affordable housing.

It is essential to take an all of the above approach to build senior housing, workforce housing, and units affordable for those well below the CMI. This must be coupled with ready access to food and reliable transportation such as the BRT.

We need to prioritize and eliminate barriers for the unhoused while fully implementing the Regional Housing Strategy.
PFAS pollution and aircraft noise from F-35 fighter jets have harmed public health and quality of life in my district. I helped negotiate an Airport Joint Use Agreement to limit County liability and fully phase out PFAS in firefighting foam.

I am committed to equity and transparency, working to make public meetings more accessible and community-driven.

To protect our lakes, I’ve secured millions in funding to reduce phosphorus pollution, keep rainwater where it falls, support innovative manure management, and advance conservation and climate resilience through targeted land purchases.
I have had the honor of representing District 6 on the County Board since 2018. Throughout my service, I have stayed closely connected to the community by volunteering at neighborhood festivals, providing regular updates at neighborhood association meetings, and working on initiatives that strengthen our neighborhoods beyond County Board business.

I have worked as a poll worker, absentee ballot courier and organized a voter drive at the Beacon.

I am a proud parent of an East High student and am deeply committed to supporting our local public schools. I also work to train and support locally elected officials at all levels of government, because a healthy democracy depends on broad, inclusive participation from across our community.
