The best way I can describe this is that when facing budget deficits we must fight for what we want to keep. This means prioritizing services and funding that reflects our values of serving those that are most vulnerable in our communities. We do so by working with and listening to our constituents as well as county staff every step of the way.
Dane County needs to continue to fund programs that support housing for people who have experienced incarceration, and those that provide housing to those that have experienced homelessness and housing instability. We also must make sure to fund positions that support people not only getting housing through these programs but those that continue to work with them to support them to be successful in staying housed.
*Affordable Housing and Housing Justice
- increase services to tenants in Fitchburg,
- continue to expand the Affordable Housing and Fair Chance Housing Funds
*Holistic and Accessible Human Services
- collaborate with point of service providers to serve our Dane County Community
- continue to expand access to youth programing and mental health care
*Improve Transportation Options
- Support safe routes for bicycles and pedestrians throughout Dane County
- Increase accessibility to Public Transportation through low-income bus passes
What I bring to the board is lived experiences of navigating the various systems in our county and their impacts. I have experience advocating for my kids who have unique needs and 2 terms serving on the Dane County Board. I know firsthand that together we can make a tangible difference in one another’s lives and build safe, healthy, and equitable communities by investing in human services, affordable housing, and people-centered initiatives. I am in touch with the issues of our district and bring active and progressive representation to the County Board.
