Our City is proactive in identifying the different types of housing that is needed by establishing a Housing Coalition and a Housing Committee. We are currently rewriting our zoning policies. We are working with private and public partnerships in order to preserve existing affordable housing as well as new development. Density and location should be evaluated such as good transit, schools and job access. It needs to match the specific needs of the community workforce and our most vulnerable residents. This requires all hands-on deck approach for Federal, State and local levels.
We are one of the fastest growing cities in Dane County. In order to balance our quality of life means strategic planning. Adopting smart growth principals like mixed used zoning, integrating green infrastructure, creating incentives for sustainable building, strengthening community engagement for input and implementing policies that protect historical sites and natural areas alongside development is a way to balance the need. Good Urban strategic planning includes compact development, enhancing walkability, protecting open spaces, and using zoning incentives to guide growth.
The top priority is Public Safety and focusing on core services. Other priorities include Housing affordability and availability, infrastructure and maintenance, making sure tax dollars are being spent reasonably and effectively, Community Health, Governance, equity and quality of life and Economic Development with environmental protection. I would address this by leading with integrity, efficiency and transparency. It is all about respect, listening to constituents and understanding local issues and the public's concerns
I have a Bachelors Degree from Edgewood University in Education and Psychology. My background has mostly been in Quality Assurance, Training, and Human Resources. We have an amazing community. To address priorities involves a deep engagement within our community. I have the ability to build partnerships through my involvement with non-profits such as the Sun Prairie Optimist Club, the Sunshine Supper, Community Schools. These roles have helped me build a strong, cohesive and vibrant community.
