Verona has already taken positive steps to support affordable housing, and those efforts provide a strong foundation to build on. As the city continues to grow, we can expand housing options for renters, seniors, young families, and workers. This includes allowing more homes like duplexes, townhomes, and small apartment buildings, especially in areas where people can walk, bike, or take the bus. By continuing to simplify the approval process and use existing city tools, Verona can keep housing affordable while planning responsibly for the future.
Verona has a strong planning tradition, and future growth should continue to reflect that care. We can support development while also protecting public safety, managing traffic, preserving community character, and caring for natural areas. Thoughtful planning, safe street design, and clear expectations for new projects help growth fit well into existing neighborhoods. By building in the right places and planning ahead, Verona can grow in a way that benefits everyone.
I hear that residents care most about housing they can afford, safe and reliable transportation, and maintaining Verona’s quality of life. People want to feel safe walking and biking, have access to good public transit, and see growth handled responsibly. The City Council can address these priorities by supporting a range of housing options, investing in safe streets and transit, and continuing to plan thoughtfully for the future.
My background has taught me to approach problems carefully, listen closely, and work well with others. I studied engineering and have experience working on projects that required collaboration, attention to detail, and clear communication. I have also studied and worked abroad, which helped me understand different perspectives and the importance of thoughtful decision-making. I am a year-round bike and bus commuter and do not own a car, so I experience Verona’s streets and transit system every day. These experiences shape how I think about housing, transportation, and planning, and they would guide how I serve on the City Council.
