Amy Ristow for Outagamie County Board District #3
I’m running because local decisions matter. The County Board makes choices that affect our roads, public safety, health services, and long-term financial stability — and those decisions shape everyday life for families in our community.
I care about steady, practical leadership. I bring experience in strategic planning and budgeting, and I’m used to thinking about long-term sustainability. If elected, I hope to contribute thoughtful decision-making, ask good questions, and help ensure county government is transparent, fiscally responsible, and focused on essential services that keep our community strong.
Like many communities, we’re balancing rising costs with the need to maintain strong public services. Infrastructure, public safety, mental health support, and workforce challenges are all part of that conversation.
At the same time, families are feeling tax pressure and want confidence that county dollars are used wisely.
The real issue is thoughtful planning; making sure today’s decisions don’t create tomorrow’s problems. That requires careful budgeting, long-term thinking, and open communication about tradeoffs.
I haven’t held elected office before, but my work in nonprofit leadership has required me to understand how public systems and funding structures operate.
I’ve worked in environments shaped by public policy, compliance requirements, and accountability standards. That’s given me a strong appreciation for transparency, responsible budgeting, and the importance of following through on commitments.
I’m comfortable reviewing information carefully, understanding constraints, and collaborating respectfully — all of which are important in county governance.
I’m not coming into this role with a preset list of services to expand or cut. I believe those decisions should be made carefully, with good data and community input.
My focus would be on maintaining strong core services and ensuring they’re delivered efficiently and sustainably. Before adding services, we need to understand long-term costs. Before reducing services, we need to understand the impact.
Responsible governance means being thoughtful — not reactive — and making decisions that serve the community both now and in the future.

I’m running for reelection. I want to continue working for an efficient and representative government in a nonpartisan environment.
We have worked on a number of important issues and need to do more;
Ensure a competitive wage for all employees
Deliver more public defenders to our courts
Open a child daycare on county land
Improve Mosquito Hill Nature Center
Assist needy families to find financial assistance for food, daycare, medical and affordable housing
Advocate for safer streets
4 years Outagamie County Supervisor and 14 years Appleton Alderperson
I’ve worked with many government and business leaders to help improve the standard of living and safety for all people in Appleton and the county.
Working with the City of Appleton I, along with my wife Babs and our son Matthew have donated over 200 flowering crab apple trees. Most, along the Apple Creek Walking trail. Our goal has been to attract more people to Appleton and make the trail a destination walk. We’ll be planting another 50 this year and hosting our first Apple Blossom Festival which will help a number of non-profit organizations.
Support businesses, families, neighborhoods and find additional ways to improve our community in a nonpartisan way for all citizens in Outagamie County.
