Outagamie County is a thriving community that requires a focused eye on innovation; innovation across public health and human services, transportation and public works, affordable housing, and our attention must turn to the economic opportunities and community building that can make a difference to all our lives. I believe in the inherent dignity and worth of all people and the compassion and commitment to build an even better community for all of Outagamie's diverse residents. I'm looking forward to including all voices at the table. I plan to accomplish bringing good stewardship, civic-minded public leadership, common sense, and collaborative decision in making sure we move Outagamie forward.
As our community continues to grow, we are faced with a shortage of affordable housing. We also face difficult future decisions related to zoning and municipalities that have budget concerns and collaborative approaches to solving these issues are needed. We need to continue to explore sustainable and innovative efforts related to waste management and public utility services. We also face continued unfunded state mandates and there is concern that federal funding may be reduced for areas like mental health, services for children with disabilities, and other necessary human services for vulnerable populations.
My entire work experience has been in the public service sector. From serving as a social worker in human services, healthcare, leading county human service department, to my current work as a policy analyst with the State of Wisconsin; I am compelled to provide service to the public in areas that help create thriving families and communities.. My current role at the Department of Children and Families has me working alongside statewide partners in developing new policies to improve conditions in our child welfare system. I am running for re-election having served 1, two-year term on the Outagamie County Board of Supervisors.
A thriving community means ALL thrive. This will include examining a county and regional approach to housing stability, affordable housing, ending homelessness, transportation network expansion, mental health services, and access to childcare. We need to expand our long-range sustainability plan for waste management and climate impacted utility storage, use, and security. I would like to see an inclusion of an equity, diversity, and inclusion lens in the development of park and rec facilities, interactions with consumers for services provided, and supporting a trauma-informed approach to all county services.
