I am unopposed in my bid for a third 2-year term as District 19 county board supervisor. I serve on the Finance Committee overseeing spending decisions and related impacts on numerous services to county residents.
My focus is on public safety, which goes beyond law enforcement and fire protection. Mental health initiatives such as embedding social workers with police and fire is one example. Reduction in quality of life services is also being addressed. Keeping roads and parks maintained as revenue decreases is challenging. Adding to financial stress is operational costs of sheriff's, district attorney and court offices. We are demanding local state reps. fight for increased shared revenue.
I regularly visit residents throughout my district to remind them of available resources and to state the importance of joining as a single voice to overcome issues. Since my district is entirely within Waukesha, I work with elected city officials and department supervisors to quickly correct problems with signs, street and lawn maintenance, unsightly properties and illegal disturbances.
Mental illness, anxiety, addiction and personality disorders are growing issues. People suffering these problems must quickly be linked to professional services instead of handled through law enforcement.
