I am currently serving as a Village Trustee, and we are in the process of hiring a new manager. If this is handled thoughtfully—and I believe it will be—the next manager could serve Fox Point for many years.
With more than three decades of experience as a manager/director, including working closely with a governing board, I want to ensure that village procedures & policies promote accountability, transparency, and a productive working relationship among staff, the manager, and the Board.
The village needs to improve communication. Its website is cumbersome. It does not have a social media presence or provide regular general newsletters, and its email notifications system is dated. Residents access information in different ways, and the village should reflect that reality. Providing information about village resources through multiple communication channels would help ensure that all residents are informed & able to take full advantage of available services and opportunities.
Fox Point is already making progress toward Goal #8 —Protect & Restore Nature in the City. FP scored very highly on its Tree Canopy Assessment, with 64% of village land covered by trees and shrubs, compared to the Wisconsin average of 30%. The DPW also operates with a focus on sustainability.
There is room to do more. I'd support a village-led campaign to encourage residents to pursue healthy home energy upgrades, which can reduce energy use while improving comfort & long-term sustainability.
The Fox Point Village Police Department does an excellent job addressing crime in our community. I support the department’s continued efforts to strengthen relationships with residents and to maintain ongoing professional training and education. These efforts help ensure that Fox Point continues to receive a high level of public safety service.
Building strong working relationships with other jurisdictions takes time, but I am optimistic that the new Village Manager will establish positive partnerships with public sector stakeholders and continue to build a strong reputation for Fox Point at both the county and state levels.
An important part of this effort will be a willingness to participate in cooperative projects and shared programs that address multi-jurisdictional issues and benefit village residents.

When I first ran for office 15 years ago, times were a lot less comlicated. Our biggest current issue is how to continue to provide the level of service to which we are accustomed and love (exceptional staffing, high level of service, friendly community feel) while juggling the levy cap limit that is a significant hardship for any fully built out community. As current President, a long time board member, chair of finance, audit, I plan to continue to bring my experience to the issues at hand.
We have a comprehensive plan that assists in guiding the board and staff in decision making process when we address these issues. Some are more relevant to us than others given that we are a predominantly residential community, but all are important as we work to strengthen our community. I plan to continue to rely on our plan and our staff to ensure that we address these issues in an equitable manner.
Our comprehensive plan addresses some of the issues in the Climate Equity Plan. It would be wonderful if our County Supervisor would like to host a public presentation and listening session to help bring focus to what is being done at the County level with these issues. Our residents could then be aware of how they can contribute to collective success.
We are fortunate to live in a relatively safe community and also to have an amazing police department. They operate within a community policing model which means that our officers are in the field mixing with residents on a very regular basis at schools and community led events. We are proactive in our budgeting process to address the needs of the department and I look forward to continuting that in my next term as President.
We already have many cooperative agreements in place that ensure we are always working with our neighbors. I represent the Village on the Intergovernmental Cooperation Council that includes all Mayors and Presidents in Milwaukee County, I am the Secretary on the North Shore Fire Department Board that includes four north shore communities. We have representation on the joint library for four communities. We always look for opportunties to expand our already robust cooperative agreements.
