It's time to bring a fresh perspective to the Town of Merton Board of Supervisors with a different set of experiences and skill sets. My background in technology, financial services and work with non-profit organizations fills a gap in the current board.
Keeping our parks, trails and Town Hall Library up to date and maintained benefits our whole community and add to our quality of life.
I would like to see guidelines of investor owned short-term rental real estate (AirBnb, VRBO) to preserve the legacy of our community and ensure that individuals and families have an opportunity to purchase housing.
We have an abundance of waterways and lakes that fall within our boundaries. It's a balancing act to manage ordinances that protect these resources, including groundwater. Improving the information sharing on high-priority issues is essential and important to all people we serve.
With the frequency of severe weather events growing, our warning systems should be modern, reliable and keep all citizens safe. Town resources should stand in the ready to be deployed as needed.
The Town of Merton is a safe community, but not a crime-free one. We currently outsource public safety to the Village of Lac LaBelle and need to evaluate its effectiveness from a funding, as well as public safety perspective. The Town should use any and all resources to inform our citizens during emergency events happening in our streets and our schools. Warning systems and the Town's website should be up to date when it comes to reporting crime, including a crime tracker tool.
In the Town of Merton, it's essential to maintain and demand accountability of our County, State and Federal officials. Many roadways in the Town rely on a combination of County, State and Town public resources.
We need to push State officials to explain each funding formula that represents essential revenue streams to the Town. I would promote an annual Rountable with other public officials, that would be freely open to the public.
Transparent appropriations of our tax dollars is mandatory.
