As a retired architect/planner, I saw a need for long-term planning and cost oversight in several areas. I helped implement a planning and design process for city facility projects that anticipated total project costs before final approval. In the 1990's before becoming an alderman, I served as chairperson of the FOCUS New Berlin Committee that set the stage for what is now known as The City Center and other long term planning initiatives.
My district primary consists of single family homes. Essential city services are very important at an affordable tax rate. Whether it is library services, snow removable or city recreational opportunities, the needs of my district vary greatly. Making services available to all age groups and affordable is always a challenge.
Having been a member of the New Berlin City Council since 2011, I have always been accessible and ready to address the needs of my constituents. Having been involved with many wide ranging city committees and commissions, I have offered hands on input on behalf of my constituents.
Our city is committed to a safe and clean environment as evidenced by our Water Resource Management Commission and recycling programs. We have also been awarded with the "Tree City" award for many years and take pride in our miles of environmental trails and learning programs.
Complete support of the police and fire departments is paramount to a safe community. New Berlin is a very safe community, but the pressures from outside our boundaries continues to grow. Strong training and recruitment programs will keep our community safe. Outreach by those departments and citizen awareness is also a major factor to safety.
