My heart is for the community, I decided to run for office to be a voice to all Oklahomas that may feel they are not represented at the State Capitol. As a future state representative I am obligated to represent all and be present in all aspects of the community. Simply put, as I have served in communities I have seen what communities are fighting for and need for their community and want to translate my servant leadership experience at the Capitol.
I was a founding board member and the first president of the Oklahoma City Young Professionals Mayoral Council. The responsibility of the council was to bring young professional organizations together as a council to advise Mayor Holt on the needs of young professionals in our state and advise him and his office on how to recruit and retain young professionals. We identified that young professionals care about salary to cost of living ratio, entertainment, and diverse policy. As it pertains to salary and cost of living, I would suggest keeping taxes low and increasing economic opportunity with job diversity. Increase exposure to our state chambers for networking/entertainment purposes. I would also identify policies that are important to young professionals that would attract a new workforce.
I will support any policy that ensures public dollars remain in public school, in addition to policy that will retain and recruit teachers with salaries comparable to surrounding states, I would also support policy that would decrease overhead spending by administration.
Oklahoma can strategically use tax incentives to support industries that we may not currently sustain. The film industry is proof that this works and can help grow jobs and stimulate our economy. Another industry that tax incentives could support is our childcare industry and drive more people to the workforce. I also am in support of raising the state’s minimum wage to help Oklahomans keep up with the rising costs of living.
