Texas State Representative, District 13

Texas State Representative: Two-year term. The Texas House of Representatives has 150 members from separate districts across the state. With the Texas Senate, the Texas House: enacts and amends laws; passes the state budget and raises or lowers taxes; passes proposed amendments to the Texas Constitution; and redraws congressional and legislative district maps every ten years. The Texas House has the exclusive power to impeach officials. Current annual salary: $7,200, plus $221 for every day the Legislature is in session, including any special sessions.

I have been an effective grassroots activists for prolife issues and protecting women's private spaces for 20 years. I also an elected member of the SREC.
Voter ID, same-day elections, vote-by-mail for cause only. Paper ballots.
Except for emergency critical care, gov't should not be in the healthcare business. As it has gotten more so, costs have skyrocketed and the quality of care has declined. Publish research, but quit directing people's healthcare.
I like Enterprise Zones. Reduce regulations and barriers to entry and encourage entrepreneurs. When needed, set up initial tax breaks to encourage major industries.
Figure out to do with all the windmills whose blades no longer turn. Energy density is the key to efficiency and meeting genuine environmental concerns. Windmills that take 50 years to break even but only have a 20-year lifespan make no sense. Solar farms which cover massive acreage while providing unreliable, spotty energy make no sense, either.
I think we should look at de-salination plants with an emphasis on the technology Israel used to make the desert bloom. Texas has over 3,000 miles of usable shoreline (NOT an error - includes extensive interior tidal shoreline beyond its 367 miles of direct Gulf shoreline.
We need to get more money to the classroom. Texas hovers around 40th on classroom expenditures, while paradoxically being among the top in administrative and capital expenditures. Texas education policies need a lot of work to improve effectiveness. At a time of rising concern over property taxes, this is vital.
