Hello, my name is Abena McKenzie and I work as a LPN Trach Care Nurse. My job is very fulfilling as I like to see patients heal and thrive, and to help improve their quality of life. I love what I do, and I like to make a difference.
I would like to assist High-school
Apprenticeship programs to assist with Tuttoring in STEM education to Junior, and Middle School. I would love to see communities improve test scores and give kids positive encouragement to reach for goals and achievements.
We need family and community stability assist programs including family, Marriage, and Parenting counseling. We can assist with grants in this area as well.
We need a mandatory time limit from voluntary treatment into involuntary treatment system.
We need to encourage education for community ideas. We need Tutoring centers for all people, music centers, science centers.
It will be good to do voluntary time limits into involuntary treatment to reduce harmful effects and trauma on neighborhood and communities.
These are some areas that can be employable for individuals, and also bring unity positivity back once we identify and enjoy commonalities with each other.
Climate change is a serious issue for all Earth Dwellers or living beings. It is our responsibility to protect Earth, and reduce harmful events causing climate change. We need Science Funding, and Federal programs to counteract the harms, and restrictions to protect us all. We also need a boundary where no President can come and Executive order away these organizations.
We definitely need a protection system in place that will ensure boundaries for housing rights, medical care rights, food insecurity, education rights are human rights and need to be recognized and Federally protected, to where no President can come executive order away.
I'm ok with what the community implement, State Identification is good, also maybe a fair American Citizen act could work, as constituents, they have a say and right.
My job is to be a voice for the community, I will listen and serve the community. We together will set goals and achieve them. We will make a difference, and be effective for all ages.
Even to those incarcerated, we can make a difference with them, like healthier foods which will improve comprehension. Other options need to be implemented.
Also Shelters and Homeles need to be addressed, programs need to be updated.

Citizens Civic Duties Upgrade needs to happen. We have a vision to assist with financial assistance for Jury Duty details, for transportation cost, food cost and etc. The real cost of actually being a productive Citizen for Civic Duties must be addressed.
I’m running for Congress because working people deserve a government that fights for them—not billionaires or corporate interests. My priorities are clear: lowering the cost of living by taking on corporate greed, fighting for Medicare for All, and restoring SNAP benefits so families can put food on the table. I will continue holding Donald Trump and his administration accountable for the corruption and abuses of power we see every day, especially after ICE’s terror campaign in Minnesota. And I’ll fight to strengthen public education by increasing school funding and guaranteeing universal school meals. Government should serve ordinary people, not the wealthy and well-connected.
The economy works best when it works for working people. As Deputy Chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, I helped develop the Affordability Agenda: lowering prescription drug costs, cracking down on utility companies that overcharge families, curbing excess oil profits, capping child care costs at 7% of income, and helping first-time homebuyers. The answer to inflation is not corporate greed—it’s making life affordable.
Climate change is an existential threat, and Congress must act with urgency. We need to reinvest in clean energy, community solar, public transit, and industrial decarbonization. I support environmental justice investments in communities hit hardest by pollution and neglect. And we must ensure that new technologies, including AI infrastructure, do not drive up energy costs or undermine our climate goals.
In the wealthiest country in the world, healthcare, housing, education, and food should be human rights—not privileges. I support Medicare for All, tuition-free public college, student debt cancellation, and major investments in affordable and public housing. In the short term, we must reverse cuts that have stripped millions of people of health coverage and food assistance. No one should be left behind.
Democracy works when everyone can participate. We must pass the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act, ban partisan gerrymandering, protect voter data, and strengthen our election infrastructure. I also support rolling back restrictive voting laws that keep eligible citizens from casting a ballot. The right to vote is fundamental, and Congress should expand it—not restrict it.
Being a member of Congress is about far more than casting votes in Washington. It means showing up for your constituents every single day. My office has helped thousands of people navigate federal agencies and secured millions of dollars for housing, infrastructure, and food access. I hold monthly town halls because I fully believe my job is to listen, fight for my community, and use every tool available to improve people’s lives.
The federal judiciary must be accountable to the public it serves. I support Supreme Court term limits, expanding the Court, and establishing enforceable ethics standards across the Court. No judge or justice should be above the rules. I also support creating an independent immigration court system so that due process is protected and justice is administered fairly and impartially.

Affordability, housing, and public safety.
I’ve spent my career standing up for working families every day, not just talking about them in Washington. As a probation officer and union president, I know what it means to fight for good wages, benefits, and dignity on the job. Our district deserves someone who will focus on lowering grocery bills, stabilizing housing, and protecting workers’ rights – including protecting social security from privatization – here at home.
I’ve spent decades balancing accountability and second chances. I know public safety is about prevention, fairness, and community trust — not slogans and empty rhetoric. Our neighbors want to feel safe, and they want justice. I’ll fight for both.
We need to support small businesses as they are the backbone of our country. A vibrant economy includes a diverse community. We need to uplift all of our communities so that they can support our economic growth efforts. We need to cut our spending at the Federal level and be mindful of interest rates. We need to tax the super rich and have them pay their fair share. We also need to ensure that the regulations we have in place do not dissuade businesses from growing.
Climate change is real and our inaction not only impacts our children and grandchildren, it is causing harm right now, most critically for our marginalized communities and working families. The White House’s withdrawal from the Paris Climate Accords is unacceptable, as is his divestment from Biden’s Infrastructure Bill that gave us tools for addressing climate change while creating good paying American jobs for the future. I will work to get us back on track in meeting our responsibilities
We all deserve dignity and respect in our daily lives. Our government is supposed to work for everyone, not just the wealthy. We need to fund our social safety nets, such as Social Security, Medicare, food, stamps, job readiness programs, and our public schools. When we start supporting our children, they are more likely to be successful adults. We have a responsibility to ensure they have safe and secure futures.
The SAVE Act cannot become law of the land. We do not need to increase barriers to elections. However, we need to ensure that states have the resources they need to implement safe and secure elections. We need to invest in volunteers so that we have enough personnel to assist in the process. We need to empower Local government and state officials to support best practices in election security. We also need to bring back civic engagement as a required course to uplift our future leader leaders.
Local Focus: I believe effective representation starts at home. My priority is staying connected to the people of MN-CD-05 and addressing the issues that directly impact daily life — safe communities, affordable housing, good-paying jobs, accessible health care, lowering the cost of groceries, and opportunity for families. I am committed to showing up, being accessible, and delivering results for the district. Personal agendas have no place in governance. I will fight to win, not just make noise
We have a Supreme Court that has become more and more partisan. I would advocate for term limits on the US Supreme Court, as well as other jurisdiction. We also need to do a comprehensive review of the US sentencing guidelines to ensure best practices in fairness in our sentencing practices.
