Why are you running for court clerk?
How does your background prepare you to serve as court clerk?
What will be your top priority for the office of court clerk?
Why am I running? To ensure the court clerks office continues to flourish and grow to meet the demands of our increasing town population by providing exemplary service to the citizens we serve.
About MeI have been a resident of Smyrna for over forty years. My husband and I graduated from Smyrna High School and raised our three children in Smyrna. I am a graduate of MTSU and received my juris doctorate from the Nashville School of Law. I am a licensed attorney in the state of Tennessee. I have worked in the Smyrna Court Clerk’s office since 1994.
I feel that after spending 32 years working in the clerk’s office, the last four as the elected court clerk, that I still have much to give to the citizens of Smyrna.
I look forward to continuing our push to implement effective policies and procedures to improve the efficiency of the court.
Many of the improvements made the last four were with the overall experience of the public in mind. Many processes are now far more streamlined for the people utilizing the court services.
I plan to keep our Smyrna court clerks office on the cutting edge as we proceed into another term in office.
I have served as a deputy court clerk, a judicial commissioner, and a supervisor for 28 years prior to my first term in office four years ago.
Those years of experience have been invaluable to me as the elected court clerk. I believe I am a more effective leader having come up through the ranks of the clerks office and having performed all the duties my staff is now responsible for.
Finally, I strongly believe that having a law degree is an absolute necessity to achieve and maintain compliance with state law. As legislation develops and changes, being capable of properly interpreting and implementing those changes is vital for the success of our court.
Compliance with state law must be our priority. The integrity of the office is paramount.
Beyond that, providing efficient service is the goal. To do so, we streamline processes to make inquiries, compliance, and payments straight forward and easy.
As our Town grows and changes, so will the Clerk's Office. I look forward to continuing to play a role in implementing positive improvements.
