NM State Representative District 46
In addition to other duties prescribed by law, representatives enact “reasonable and appropriate laws,” represent the constituents of their district, and serve on standing or interim committees. The legislature meets each year beginning in January. In odd-numbered years, it meets for 60 days; in even-numbered years, it meets for 30 days. The Governor may call special sessions. Candidates must be at least 21 years old and must be a resident of the district from which elected. They serve a two-year term. Representatives do not receive a salary, but they do receive a pre-set per diem and mileage; there is also a pension program for legislators serving a minimum period.Cámara de Representantes de Nuevo MéxicoAdemás de otras obligaciones prescritas por la ley, los representantes promulgan leyes razonables y apropiadas , representan a los electores de su distrito y sirven en comités permanentes o interinos. I'm a daughter of Northern New Mexico, with ancestors choosing to be here for generations. I'm a proud scholar and graduate of Santa Fe High, Stanford University (B.A., Political Science), and UNM School of Law School (J.D.). The greatest lessons I've learned have been on the land and working in our communities with a plethora of multigenerational resources we have in abundance. I am thrilled to work for Avivar Capital, an SEC-registered impact investing firm, who supports the New Mexico Impact Investing Collaborative (NMIIC). As for my personal growth and tinkering curiosities, I have a patent in probiotic eggs and care about the future of our entrepreneurial ecosystem, farmers, ranchers, water, land and food-security future.
I have made the long-term commitment to do all I can to help serve our amazing, diverse communities and state. I have the honor of running for a fourth term to accomplish the goals yet accomplished to create a vibrant future our children and families that is rooted in our values. We must do more to diversify our economy, strengthen our school systems, protect our environment, and to keep us safe. I am committed to finding the ways in which we can all prosper for future for generations to come.
New Mexico stands at a pivotal moment, poised to chart a course toward a prosperous future that uplifts all its residents. To achieve this vision, the state must prioritize several key initiatives that address both immediate challenges and long-term opportunities. We must continue to diversify our economy, invest in education and infrastructure, manage natural resources responsibly, support small businesses, ensure healthcare access, find ways to promote a strong and vibrant business community, and prioritize social equity to ensure a prosperous future for all residents.
Our tax structure must prioritize New Mexico families and encourage small business growth. With that focus, the state must simply our GRT tax structure for small businesses, we need to continue to adjust income tax brackets to benefit families, offer tax incentives for small business growth, provide additional startup support, offer workforce training credits, create culturally and environmentally appropriate investment incentives, and review corporate tax rates. These measures would create a tax environment that supports families, stimulates entrepreneurship, and fosters a thriving small business ecosystem, driving economic growth statewide.
