I’m a retired business owner and community volunteer, not a career politician. I served as President of a subsidiary of a publicly traded company and later built and sold my own business after 15 years. I’m self-funding my campaign so I answer only to the citizens of Conroe--not special interests. My goal is restoring transparency, accountability, and a spirit of unity in our city government.
I earned my degree in Business Administration and spent my career building businesses, managing operations, and making long-term financial decisions. I understand debt, risk, and accountability. Taxpayers deserve oversight of every dollar. As a retired business owner, I have the time to study issues, ask tough questions, and make fact-based decisions for Conroe.
First, Conroe must address the current debt while many capital improvement projects remain unfunded. We need careful financial planning, transparency, and responsible budgeting to protect taxpayers. Second, Conroe needs to move from reactive growth to responsible growth. Growth must pay for growth.
Emergency response depends on the situation. For hurricanes or major storms, Conroe opens its Emergency Operations Center early and coordinates with the county, utilities, and debris removal while keeping residents informed. For everyday emergencies like fires or accidents, strong coordination between police, fire, and county agencies ensures a fast, effective response.
Transparency starts with accessibility. Good decisions come from listening to residents and hearing different perspectives. I will return phone calls, emails and remain accessible—even if we may not agree. I will work cooperatively with Montgomery County, local businesses, and community organizations while keeping citizens informed.
I have a lot of experience and I’m not going to be manipulated. I would like voters to visit my campaign website at the following link to find more and get to know me better. I want to help the City and would like your vote: https://kristinguardino.com/get-to-know-kristin/
My BBA in Economics, cum laude; Juris Doctorate; and years of experience in complex litigation provide me skills to tackle difficult projects and financial decisions in Conroe. I successfully represented disputes for clients with real estate investments; securities fraud; child crime victims; high-conflict family and estate matters; ad litem in elder cases; and gave countless hours pro bono.
Important challenges for Conroe are municipal water system/flood control management; funding/staffing City departments & employees; and financial management. I will place residents’ and business owners’ interests first; do my best not to increase taxes/fees; improve and manage City agencies & budgets responsibly; raise the S&P rating; sustain Conroe’s natural beauty; and increase home ownership.
Conroe should be prepared for flooding, hurricanes, severe thunderstorms, tornadoes, wildfires, and power outages. As our community grows, planning for these risks through stronger emergency communication, resilient infrastructure, and coordinated response efforts will be critical to protecting residents and maintaining public safety.
To engage the community and support its involvement and awareness of the work and projects undertaken by local government I will create new opportunities to meet with constituents, homeowner associations, students, and business owners conveniently and use technology to improve access to local government outreach and encourage constituents to attend Council meetings.
