The two most compelling issues I aim to address if elected are infrastructure development and workforce development.
Firstly, improving infrastructure is vital for District 4's growth. I will prioritize projects that support dig once policies, public transportation, and laying roads before buildings to keep pace with our expanding population. This will improve traffic flow and overall quality of life.
Secondly, I am committed to workforce development to tackle housing affordability. By creating job opportunities and supporting local businesses, we can help residents secure stable employment and increase their ability to afford housing. This approach will strengthen our community's economic foundation and improve living standards for all.
County commissioners typically focus on infrastructure, zoning, and other factors that can indirectly affect job creation and economic development in their area. However, here are some initiatives I support that directly impact affordability:
Promoting Affordable Housing Development: Encourage projects with tax credits and grants.
Support Workforce Development: Enhance job training to increase earning potential.
Implement Inclusionary Zoning: Require new developments to include affordable units.
Expand Housing Assistance: Increase funding for rental and down payment assistance.
Preserve Existing Affordable Housing: Assist homeowners with rehab grants to repair and keep them in their homes
To address traffic safety concerns in Hillsborough County, I will:
Increase Funding for Road Safety Improvements: Prioritize projects like better lighting, signage, and pedestrian crossings.
Expand Public Transportation: Reduce traffic congestion and promote safer travel alternatives.
Implement Vision Zero Strategies: Aim to eliminate traffic fatalities through comprehensive safety plans.
Enhance Enforcement of Traffic Laws: Work with law enforcement to ensure strict adherence to traffic regulations.
Promote Safe Driving Campaigns: Educate the public on safe driving practices.
These measures will help reduce traffic fatalities and improve overall road safety in our county.
Funding public schools is a top priority. Educated citizens are a communities best asset. Ensuring our schools are well-funded is essential for quality education. I support structured budget processes and initiatives that allocate funds efficiently, addressing both operational needs and capital projects.
Adhering to state regulations for timely transfers is crucial. This ensures schools receive necessary resources without delays, maintaining uninterrupted services and supporting various programs. Coordinated efforts between county and state officials enhance transparency and accountability in using public funds effective
