As a 30-year resident and product of Mesquite schools, I am running to restore a standard of excellence. I hold a Master of Business Administration, a Master of Library Science, and am a Doctoral Candidate in Educational Leadership. With certifications as a Principal as Instructional Leader and endorsements in Learning Resources, Elementary Self-Contained, and History, I possess the executive and pedagogical tools to navigate our district’s challenges. I combine a parent’s perspective with high-level expertise to ensure Mesquite ISD remains a place where families thrive.
Our educators and librarians are the heart of Mesquite’s future. To attract and retain the best talent, we must foster a culture of professional respect and stability. Even during budgetary shifts, my priority is protecting the "front line" of our classrooms. By auditing overhead to prioritize educator retention, we can ensure our staff feels valued and secure. We will make Mesquite a destination district once again, where teachers are empowered to focus on student growth and where our libraries remain vibrant centers of literacy for every child.
Mesquite ISD is a cornerstone of our community, and my goal is to ensure it remains the "provider of choice" for every family. With nearly 80% of our students relying on the services our public schools provide, we have a beautiful opportunity to showcase our unique programs and academic strengths. I am dedicated to a vision where our neighborhood schools are so strong, safe, and successful that the choice to stay in Mesquite ISD is an easy one. We will continue to be a district that serves every child with excellence, opportunity, and pride.
Enrollment and attendance are the lifelines of our district funding. We are seeing a decline in enrollment that creates immense pressure on our ability to maintain staffing and services. To stabilize our budget, we must prioritize engagement-focused strategies that bring students back to our classrooms. By ensuring our schools are safe, welcoming, and academically rigorous, we encourage consistent attendance. I support community-based interventions that address the root causes of absenteeism, ensuring we secure the resources needed to provide the excellence our families deserve.
Student safety is my non-negotiable priority. I am committed to ensuring that every Mesquite ISD campus is a secure sanctuary for learning, free from all forms of discrimination. I advocate for a proactive approach to security that includes modernized infrastructure and clear, accountable policies that treat every student and employee with dignity. By fostering an environment of mutual respect and absolute safety, we empower our teachers to teach and our students to reach their full potential. We must ensure that our schools are places where everyone feels protected and supported.
My primary goal is to see Mesquite ISD lead the state in academic performance once again. My doctoral research provides a data-driven blueprint for reversing our current test score decline and focusing on core literacy and math. By protecting our certified librarians and investing in high-quality instructional resources, we provide our students with the competitive edge they deserve. My vision is for a district that not only meets state standards but exceeds them, preparing every student for a successful career while strengthening the bond with our community.

With over 30 years of serving Mesquite ISD in every board role, I’ve kept student outcomes at the center of every decision. As a Mesquite resident since 1965 and a parent and grandparent of MISD graduates, with two granddaughters in MISD schools today, my roots in this community run deep. My experience in statewide advocacy, TASB leadership, and 2,700+ hours of board training equip me to set clear goals, monitor progress, and deliver steady, student‑first leadership grounded in our community’s values.
My approach is to protect the classroom, keep compensation competitive, and stay transparent and upfront about funding realities. Even in tight budgets, I prioritize instruction, targeted pay adjustments, and strong campus support so teachers feel valued, supported, and able to grow. I focus on stability, clear communication, and long‑range planning because a steady, supportive culture that helps teachers succeed is one of the strongest tools we have for attracting and keeping quality staff without losing sight of remaining financially responsible.
Our district hasn’t seen clear enrollment changes from vouchers yet, and we won’t fully understand the impact until next school year. Early statewide data shows strong interest in the program, but most applicants so far come from outside public schools, so the effect on districts like ours remains uncertain. We’re watching the trends closely to protect stability for our students, staff, and families.
Attendance in our district is down slightly, though we’ve begun to see small but steady improvement as new supports take hold. While lower attendance does create some pressure on our ability to provide the level of service our families expect, we have clear plans in place to continue raising attendance and strengthening student engagement. Our focus is on stability, consistency, and keeping students connected to their schools.
I support strong, consistent policies that protect every student and employee from discrimination, including clear reporting processes, fair investigations, and training that builds awareness and mutual respect. I also believe in consistent enforcement of policy and a culture where concerns can be raised without fear of retaliation. Our schools must be safe, welcoming environments where every person is treated with dignity. When students and staff feel protected and valued, the entire community is stronger.
I will stay focused on early literacy, transparent accountability, and modern learning environments that prepare students for the future. I’m committed to responsible budgeting, clear governance roles, and a board that works together—governance you can trust. I’ll continue supporting teachers, strengthening family engagement, and ensuring every major decision is grounded in data and centered on student success.
