Eugen Bold is a husband, father, and candidate for Broward County Commission District 6 with direct experience in county government, civic leadership, and small business. He previously served as Director of Policy & Public Affairs in a Broward County Commission office, working on transportation, resiliency, infrastructure, budget review, constituent services, and municipal coordination. He is founder of Aveli Innovation Group and VP of the Hollywood Beach Civic Association.

I bring a new generation of leadership grounded in direct Broward County government experience. For more than five years, I served as Director of Policy and Public Affairs in a County Commission office, working on transportation, resiliency, infrastructure, budget review, land use, environmental stewardship, workforce development, constituent services, and municipal coordination. I understand how county government works and how to turn community concerns into action. As Vice President of the Hollywood Beach Civic Association, and as a husband and father, I am committed to a safer, more resilient, more affordable, and better-managed Broward County.
For District 6, I would prioritize flood mitigation, water protection, and resilient infrastructure. That means accelerating drainage upgrades, pump stations, stormwater improvements, and coordination with cities, FDOT, state, and federal partners. Flooding is also a public safety issue — emergency vehicles must be able to reach residents during storms. We must protect our beaches, wetlands, tree canopy, and drinking water supply while planning for sea-level rise, saltwater intrusion, and extreme heat. I would support smarter growth near transit and stronger infrastructure standards, so Broward protects homes, neighborhoods, and lives.
As someone from a working-class background, I understand affordability is not abstract — it determines whether families can stay in the communities they helped build. Broward needs mixed-income and workforce housing near transit, job centers, and commercial areas where infrastructure can support growth. I support incentives for real, long-term affordability, paired with standards for drainage, traffic, water, sewer, public safety, and quality of life. We must also attract higher-paying jobs, expand workforce training, improve transit, protect seniors and mobile home communities, and reduce unnecessary red tape so Broward remains affordable for an economically diverse population.
District 6 needs stronger investment in core county responsibilities residents feel every day: flood mitigation, drainage, safer streets, transit connectivity, public safety infrastructure, workforce housing, parks, and neighborhood services — especially in working-class communities that have not always received their fair share of attention. Based on my county government experience, I believe Broward needs stronger performance reviews to determine what is working, what is not, and whether spending delivers measurable results. I would prioritize capital dollars for stormwater upgrades, Complete Streets, traffic improvements, shoreline resilience, and infrastructure that supports responsible growth.
Broward County has taken important steps on affordable housing, but we need to expand the toolbox. I support mixed-income and workforce housing near transit, job centers, and commercial corridors, with real long-term affordability. I would also explore employer-assisted homeownership incentives, using existing affordable housing tools to encourage employers to help workers with down-payment assistance — especially for teachers, nurses, first responders, hospitality workers, and other essential employees being priced out of Broward. We must protect seniors and mobile home communities, partner with cities and nonprofits, and connect housing policy with transit, wages, and workforce stability.

Biography
Born and raised in Broward County, I come from generations of public service including my great-grandmother Genevieve who was Florida's first female Realtor of the Year. As former Mayor and City Commissioner of Dania Beach, I delivered real results: record reserves, investments in our city's resilience, and no tax increases. I serve on the Port Everglades Action Team and the Executive Committee of the Broward County Solid Waste Authority. A father of three, I am now running for District 6.

I was born and raised in Broward County, and my family has been part of this community for over a century. As Mayor and Commissioner of Dania Beach, I did not just talk about results, I delivered them: record millions invested in parks, infrastructure, stormwater, and public safety, the largest reserves in city history, and zero tax increases. I helped bring new jobs to Dania Beach through the Dania Pointe development, and I will do the same countywide to grow our economy. At the county level, I served on the Executive Committee of the Broward Solid Waste Authority, where I helped lead its countywide master plan. I know will work to tackle our county's toughest challenges because I have already fixed versions of them in Dania Beach.
Resilience is not luck. It’s preparation, and I have signed states of emergency and lived the cost of being unprepared. Sea level rise and a changing climate are already reshaping our coast and straining our water supply. In Dania Beach I made stormwater investment and drainage hardening a priority after a historic flood. For District 6, I would prioritize a county capital plan that hardens our most flood prone neighborhoods before the next storm, and coordinate with the South Florida Water Management District on levees and water discharge when storms come. I would invest in green infrastructure, protect our freshwater supply and the Everglades, and require new development to account for its real flood impact before approval.
Affordability starts with fiscal discipline. In Dania Beach I built the largest reserves in city history without raising taxes, and I led the county on affordable housing for veterans, first responders, and working families. For Broward, I would expand attainable and workforce housing so the people who serve our community can afford to live in it, take on the property insurance crisis using my experience as an insurance professional, and support the local small businesses and jobs that keep opportunity close to home. Government should not add to your cost of living. I would keep spending disciplined and focused on the services families actually rely on.
District 6 has been taken for granted for too long. I would push to fully fund the infrastructure our communities were promised and denied. Stormwater and drainage, road maintenance, and public works that have not kept pace with development. I would prioritize resilience funding for our most flood prone and underserved neighborhoods, and make sure our first responders have the staffing and equipment to respond fast. I would reallocate away from studies, consultants, and administrative overhead that never touch residents' lives, and toward the projects that do. As a Solid Waste Authority board member, I have led countywide planning and I know where the waste is.
The county has made real progress, and I have been part of it, but we have to do more. In Dania Beach I led the county on affordable housing for veterans, first responders, and working families. I would expand attainable and workforce housing across District 6, protect historic neighborhoods from density that outruns our infrastructure, and put more dollars into homeownership, not just rentals, so families can build equity and stay. I would also cut the permitting delays and red tape that make housing more expensive to build. Housing policy has to match the people who actually live and work here.

I have worked as construction attorney for 35 years, and I have served as a City of Hollywood Commissioner since 2018. As a Broward County Commissioner, I will continue my work to increase housing affordability, strengthen our local economy, increase public safety and transit, improve sustainability, protect our environment, preserve local history, and promote our unique neighborhoods.

My extensive experience as a city commissioner, construction lawyer with a degree in Civil Engineering and mother, makes me the best candidate to safeguard what matters to Broward residents and to protect what makes our community special while embracing the future.
I've implemented policies that made our community more resilient, affordable, and safe, drawing on years of leadership experience across various boards and agencies. My background shows I don't just talk; I deliver practical solutions and real expertise for residents.

Smart climate change adaptation policy is crucial to preserving our county's cultural and economic wellbeing. Maintaining and improving flood infrastructure, promoting septic-to-sewer conversion, restoring swale capacity and raising seawalls are key to mitigating flood risk. Climate policy intersects with every field, including housing and transportation. I support the actions outlined in the County's Climate Change Action Plan and Resilience Plan. These include electrifying our county fleet, and expanding public tree canopy coverage for heat protection. There's no shortage of climate actions we can take to protect our most valuable resources, and I will make sure the work continues.
Affordability is a multi-faceted problem that needs multi-faceted solutions. Housing costs continue to be the largest strain on residents’ wallets. I support increasing the inventory of obtainable housing and eviction prevention programs, while ensuring our residents have access to workforce training and education. Additionally, critical infrastructure improvements to alleviate flooding will help to reduce property insurance costs. Also, by implementing the Broward SWA's master plan, the cost of handing our county's trash will be reduced and these savings will be passed on to our residents. Providing microgrants to small businesses will also help residents grow their income while providing jobs in our community.
In 2018, Broward County voters approved a penny surtax for county transportation projects. As of today, only about $200 million of this $3 billion dollar fund has been spent. In addition to ensuring that the county expeditiously uses these funds on much-needed transportation projects in our community, project planning needs to be informed by a sustainability framework that encourages sustainable transportation infrastructure. As a member of the Broward Metropolitan Planning Organization, I support building more Transit-Oriented-Development, expanding the county’s microtransit programs, and increasing bus transit frequency to help make our transportation infrastructure more accessible, affordable, appealing and resilient.
I support smart, resilient development along transit-oriented and underutilized corridors, increasing gap financing for obtainable housing projects, and working with all community stakeholders to ensure that every resident has access to safe, affordable housing. By prioritizing mixed-income, climate-resilient projects near transit, streamlining permitting, and leveraging federal funding, I believe we can close the gap between wages and living costs while strengthening neighborhoods and protecting vulnerable residents. Additionally, partnering with community land trusts to build homes for purchase on publicly owned parcels can help alleviate the shortage of affordable single-family homes many Broward communities are facing.
