GREENE COUNTY ISSUES MAY 2025This list includes all the issues that will be on the ballot in Greene County. The language has been simplified, and some details have been left out to make the issues easier to understand. You can find full information on each issue at this website:https://www.boe.ohio.gov/greene/c/upload/FWAB_05May46Day.pdfIssue 2 is a statewide issue and will be on all ballots. Each of the other issues applies to a specific community or school district. Your ballot will have only the issues for your community or school district.Tax increases for the average homeowner are based on a home valued at $100,000. Homes that are worth more will see a larger increase. 1 mill is equal to $1 per $1,000.00 of taxable value of property. The taxable value is oftenless than the appraisal value. A renewal levy continues at the same tax rate as a previous levy, so, there is no increase in taxes.There is no Issue 1 on the ballot for this election.Issue 2: Bond Issue to Fund the State Capital Improvements ProgramThis issue would let the state borrow up to $250 million each year for 10 years to help local communities pay for public works projects like roads, bridges, water systems, and sewer systems. The money would be paid back from income and sales taxes. This issue would not increase property taxes, but it might reduce the amount of money the state could spend on other things.Issue 3: Village of Jamestown Current Expense LevyThis issue would keep the same tax rateto provide money to pay the city’s expenses. It would not increaseproperty taxes. The levy would last for 5 years.Issue 4: Sugarcreek Township Fire and EMS LevyThis issue would increase the tax rate to provide money for the fire department to buy equipment, pay staff, and provide firefighting and emergency medical services for the township. It would increaseproperty taxes by about $35 a year on a home worth $100,000. The levy would last for 5 years.Issue 5: Xenia Township Streets, Roads, and Bridges LevyThis issue would keep the same tax rate to provide money for the township to maintain and repair streets, roads, and bridges. Itwould not increaseproperty taxes. The levy would last for 5 years.Issue 6: Beavercreek City School DistrictThis issue would let the school district borrow money to build a new high school and to buy furniture and equipment for the school. It would increaseproperty taxes by about $172 a year on a home worth $100,000.
