What measures would you support to increase safety and mental health care in our county jail?

I am a lifelong Henry county resident, veteran, farmer, small business owner, husband, father of 3. I've been on a church board, held a position of trustee for the local 371 union, currently a New Castle Little League board member.
County infrastructure, I would like to see better roads and bridges. Taxes, I would like for all of us to pay fewer taxes
Only if it makes sense to all, not just a select few
I will need to find out what measure are currently being utilized to decied if those are working or if something else needs to be implemented.
Education Associates through Ball State& Ivytech in Business Entrepreneur
Experience and qualifications Owner and Founder of Capital Relations and Community Focused Center. Working in Business and nonprofit formation and website development. Primarily have worked in volunteer leadership positions most of my life throughout the community
Community involvements Served on multiple community boards: Memorial Park Board, Raintree Habitat for Humanity, Believe and Achieve Mentoring, Kingdom of God Equipping Ministry School. Serve as Director of two local Youth Summer Camps. as well as served and lead for a handful of years the Open Arms Soup Kitchen
From a young age I was raised to value community, both parents serving the community, running businesses and restoring properties; they demonstrated to me, what it not only looked like to lead in a community but to first serve. I have taken on leadership roles in every area God lead me, serving on the Memorial Park board for 6 years, President of Habitat for Humanity for the past 2 years of a total 6 years on the Board, Believe and Achieve Mentoring and Kingdom of God Equipping Ministry School. I have started a businesses as well as helped over 15 businesses get started in Henry County. I have restored multiple homes in New Castle, this isn't a resume built for a campaign. It's a life already invested in Henry County
Community and Business: Henry County is losing its young people. Without investment in the next generation, programs, mentorship, and real opportunity, our community shrinks. I'll push for stronger county partnerships with youth organizations, camps, and programs already doing the work.

Local businesses and nonprofits don't just create jobs — they create community. Too many operate without the county-level advocacy they deserve. I'll work to reduce barriers, increase access to resources, and champion policies that help them grow and stay rooted here.
If its been tested and works, I am for it. From what I am aware of, there are few non-fossil fuel energy sources that produce the same output for lower economic and environmental costs. Now I do not want the county to discourage efforts for energy production like Solar, as long as it does not interfere with the wellbeing of our citizens, and I would even support County level incentives for such projects, but until I see strong evidence of it being tried and tested in surrounding counties, I would not support tax payer money going toward it.
As someone who hopes to serve as County Council, my job will not be to direct the operations of the county jail. Voters choose their elected Sheriff for that role, and I strongly disagree with County Council members using purse strings to control other elected officials. That said, if the Sheriff were to come to the council for support or it seemed that misconduct was taking place, I would make it priority to meet with the Sheriff as well as Deputies to see what can be supported and fixed.
