County Commissioners: Each county is governed by a Board of Commissioners consisting of three elected persons from separate districts (in which they must reside) but are elected by the county as a whole.The Board of County Commissioners has a wide range of executive and administrative authority. Among the most important powers are those related to: 1) Auditing and authorizing claims against the county; 2) Receiving bids and authorizing contracts; 3) Controlling, maintaining, and supervising county property including courthouses, jails, and public offices; 4) Supervising construction and maintenance of roads and bridges; 5) Exercising appointive powers to fill positions on boards, commissions, and committees; and 6) Planning and implementing strategies for solid waste handling as members of solid waste district boards.

Experience and qualifications
I served 8 years on the Henry County Council, 2 years on Henry County Planning Commission, 4 years on the Henry County Community Corrections Board. Also served as a liason to the Surveyors office, Henry County Highway Department and Sheriffs Dept. 4 years on the Shenandoah School Board.
Community involvements
Volunteered for Henry Co. Work days, supported events for the Henry County Republicans party, Volunteered services for Memorial Park, Supported 4-H
Previous experience on the county council (8) years and serving as liason the many different departments during that time. I also found my time on the school board to be a valuable experience. I served as a senior pastor for over 30 years. This was the greatest of all for in serving God I was helping my fellow man.
1. In the last 8 years there has been a lot of turn over in elected officials on the council and commissioners office.
If I am elected I can bring knowledge and experience from having worked in county government.
2. We recently been dropped by the county's insurance provider. We now have very high deductibles and the cost for insurance is much higher.
If I am elected I believe that together we can find ways to save money in other areas.
This is a question that should be answered by the citizens of Henry County
This is a very real need. In my past experience there was no real solutions.
I would be open to listen, discuss with anyone who has a solution. I have personally known people with mental health issues and for some of them incarceration was not the answer.
