County Recorder: A recorder, sometimes called the registrar of deeds, is a government official responsible for maintaining public records and documents, especially records relating to real estate ownership such as real estate deeds and mortgages.The recorder of deeds provides a single location in which records of real property rights are recorded and may be researched by interested parties. Documents regularly recorded by the recorder of deeds include deeds, mortgages, mechanic s liens, releases, and plats, among others.

What qualities and experiences make you a qualified candidate for this office?

Experience and qualifications I worked in healthcare for 19 years and left to work in the Henry County Recorders Office in May of 2022. I currently serve as the Chief Deputy to the Henry County Recorder.
Community involvements Executive Board of the Henry County LiVE Coalition, Executive Board of Hagar’s Hope, Inc. Executive Board of Community Arm’s, Henry County CASA, and Celebrate Recovery.
I have been serving as the Chief Deputy Recorder in Henry County since 2023. As someone who was new to working in government, I have learned so much during these years and have developed a deep respect for the processes and statutes that govern each of the offices. The skills and experience that I bring to this role includes: excellent customer service, clear communication, adaptability, and attention to detail while processing high volumes of data entry. I have experience with electronic filing systems, microfilm, and CAD plotter as well as manual record retrieval through Index books and book & page. I have experience in the archival processes, research, and compliance with state statutes. I am prepared to get to work on day one.
The Recorder's Office is an essential office in county government as it serves to ensure that your deeds, mortgages, liens, land contracts, surveys, plats, and other legal real estate documents meet state statutes prior to being recorded. We also ensure that the history of land transactions in Henry County are preserved and easily accessible to the public as well as to attorneys, title companies, banks, historians, and the general public. Land ownership is one of the founding principles of our nation. The Northwest Territory established Recorder's offices in each County in 1787. In 1816 The Recorder's Office was the first local office established by the Indiana constitution.
