Yorktown is a wonderful place to live, work, and raise a family. It is the best community in Delaware County. I am motivated to run for office as a way to do my part in making sure that Yorktown continues to be special. I want to see Yorktown foster inclusive growth and ensure that every resident’s voice is both heard and valued. Together, we can build upon Yorktown’s charm, making it an even more vibrant and fulfilling place for future generations.
My priorities, if elected, center on advocating for policies that prioritize the needs of our residents. This includes promoting community engagement to ensure that every voice is heard and valued. I also aim to address infrastructure challenges to improve the quality of life for all members of our community.
I served for 8 years in the U.S. Army. As a Staff Sergeant, I led a team of seven soldiers. I developed a strong sense of teamwork, communication skills, integrity, and service to others. My experience in the U.S. Army emphasized collaboration and serving the needs of my team and our mission. These qualities will enable me to effectively engage with constituents, work collaboratively with fellow officials, and prioritize the well-being of our community.
The Yorktown Town Council is currently made up of seven members, five from the districts and two at large. The members from the districts are elected by the whole town, not just the voters in their district. If voters that are outside of a district vote differently than those in the district, that district is not being accurately represented. In addition, the Town Council should promote the idea of organizing neighborhood associations. These would empower residents to discuss common concerns. I would support organizing neighborhood associations and electing council members by their districts alone, as well as keeping the two at large positions. These two concepts would help to increase engagement and accountability across our town.
