Qualifications I am a concerned Citizen and Veteran. I believe that City Council needs a Community Advocate who will work hard to secure funding and services for our neighborhoods. The gap on homelessness and crime is on a rise and we need "everyday" and down to earth leaders who will work hard to get results that our communities need.
I am a community activist who is running for Columbia City Council, District One. I believe that the people who live in the City deserve to have a voice. When we as working people have our backs against the wall, we need a representative who will speak up and utilize all resources available to ensure that the residents are provided the best services from the City. I believe that the revenue and tax dollars that the City earns from the State and from its residents should be reinvested back into our communities efficiently to build safer communities, safer roads, better housing opportunities, and better solutions for our unhoused population. I will fight for everyone no matter your race, religion, national origin, and sexual orientation.
When elected, I plan to ensue that our communities are resourceful. Ensuring that we implement a plan to improve existing homes and fill vacant lots with homes that residents in our City can afford. I will advocate for empowering small construction and renovation businesses in our communities and work with them to develop affordable housing projects of new and existing homes. I will also proactively work with developers on new projects in our City to ensure that affordable housing is at the heart of every project as we expand the City.
My number one priority is putting safety first. I worked over a decade in Corrections and have seen the effects of not have the appropriate funding and community engagement in place to prevent crime in the first place. I cannot wait to be elected to work with State partners like Corrections, Department of Mental Health, Juvenile Justice, and Probation, Pardon, and Parole Service to develop and implement plans to prevent and reduce crime and promote safety in our City. Partnership with community organizations is essential. I will work with non-profits, churches, and independent organizations who have a passion for safety and crime prevention.
