I fully support Medicaid expansion. It is essential for improving healthcare access and equity. Expanding Medicaid would provide coverage to uninsured South Carolinians, stimulate the economy, and ensure affordable medical care. We have seen positive results in other states, with improved health outcomes, reduced uninsured rates, and cost savings. The federal government covers the majority of the costs, minimizing the burden on our state's budget. It is our responsibility to ensure everyone has access to quality healthcare, and Medicaid expansion is a crucial step towards achieving that goal.
Working collaboratively with the Department of Employment and Workforce’s (DEW) Coordinating Council for Workforce Development and Regional Workforce Advisors (RWA’s),will assist in creating job opportunities for my constituents. The RWA's are in place to be a link between constituents and job developers in our state. Ensuring opportunities exist to train constituents in fields of high demand such as information technology, health care and manufacturing will be the cornerstone of economic opportunities created by those established careers. Creating supports and empowering small businesses is also a means of creating job opportunities for constituents. Allowing small businesses to thrive is a winning solution for all parties involved.
We should support coastal communities by implementing smart land-use policies, providing assistance for property owners to adapt to rising sea levels, and enhancing coastal protection measures. Furthermore, we must prioritize scientific research and data driven decision making to guide our response and ensure that vulnerable communities are not disproportionately affected.
Collaboration among educators, librarians, administrators, parents, and students is crucial for determining the books available in school libraries. This approach ensures diverse perspectives are considered, leading to decisions that benefit students and the school community. Fostering partnerships between school librarians and parents is particularly essential to address controversies and ensure library collections reflect educational standards and community values. Together, stakeholders can create collections that meet academic needs, respect diverse backgrounds, and promote critical thinking skills, ultimately benefiting the entire school community.

South Carolina should be a recipient to medicaid expansion, however Republican led leadership felt differently. Due to us not having this expansion, there are several counties in South Carolina without quality healthcare access. This was a horrible decision and should be revisited as soon as possible. People deserve a caring quality of life.
In 2023, Richland County had its best year of economic investments in county history. Currently, Billions of dollars are being invested in our state for energy projects. As State Representative, I will work with our school districts to ensure that we are educating students to fulfill the necessary jobs. Having a solid workforce for our booming and growing economy is crucial to the success of all business in this state. Having good paying jobs for my constituents is a top priority of mine.
South Carolina should be concerned as the sea levels rise and cities like Charleston continue to flood. Our state should focus on improving infrastructure along our coast to protect our coast and citizens.
The librarian should be the one who determines what books are in school libraries. Libraries are certified and trained and can make an unbiased decision as to the selection of books. We must trust these individuals to select aged-appropriate books for schools. To keep politics out of this process, school board members should not make this selection as it interferes with the day to day activities of the school itself.
