There is a significant coverage gap in the state of SC, specifically amongst the district's poorest residents who are under the poverty level. I strongly support Medicaid expansion, and believe that everyone deserves adequate healthcare. Healthcare should not be a privilege.
I will take this issue from a two-pronged approach. (1) We need to be helping those experiencing homelessness get reintegrated in the workforce by reducing systematic barriers and providing mental health resources and job training. (2) There are 35.5% of residents living under the poverty line and the per capita income is $30,000. The problem is not job openings, the problem is that the people are not being compensated enough for their work and cannot live off of one job. We need to increase the minimum wage and protect the rights of workers.
Climate change is a looming threat that will inevitably lead to catastrophic results if action is not taken. Sea levels are rising because of the human contribution of emissions to the level of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, whereby the temperatures in the polar regions are increasing, causing the ice to melt. As a legislator, I will commit to minimizing the effect we have on climate change through strengthening environmental regulations and reducing emissions.
I do not believe in any type of educational censorship. I believe that people should not be able to make decisions on behalf of other families. Each respective parent has the option to restrict what their child reads, however, that does not give them the right to do that for other children, especially given how interpretive and biased the removal requests are.

It is shameful we haven’t expanded Medicaid. We as taxpayers are still paying for it but bad politics is sending the resources to other states. We have politicians that claim to be “pro life” but they vote to send life saving healthcare (we have already paid for) to other states. I support a women’s right to choose and good healthcare for all.
I have supported the Scout project which will be transformative for the Capital City. I have also supported local projects and have secured over 30 million in State funds for downtown Columbia projects. My website sethrose.com expands on our accomplishments to include the hiring of the first Richland County economic development director which has led to unprecedented job creation!
By working with conservation groups and other organizations for sound policy. To combat rising sea levels we need a global change but it starts with our State being on board. Proud to say I have a perfect voting record with the conservation voters of South Carolina per their score card!
Schools and teachers. Let’s keep politics out of the classroom. Sad to say the Republican Party has politicized public education. I have consistently voted in support of our public schools and public school teachers. I was raised by a public school teacher, attended public school and my mother n law is a retired midlands public school teacher of nearly 40 years.
