Hillsborough County Commissioner District 3

Depending on the county’s districting plan, represents their single-member or at-large geographic district and overall countywide interests, as part of the legislative and policy-setting branch of county government. County government is typically responsible for: fire rescue; disaster relief; county jail; constructing and maintaining county buildings, roads, and bridges; providing programs for housing and land conservation, as well as approving the Comprehensive Plan (for development). Unless otherwise provided by county charter, serve staggered 4-years term, with term limit of 8 years, or 2 consecutive 4-year terms. Salary is based on the population of the county set by Florida Legislature or by county ordinance. 2026 Hillsborough County Commissioner salary: $127,320.Each candidate for a seat on the Board of County Commissioners shall be a citizen of the United States of America, a registered voter of the district for which the candidate qualifies at the time of taking office, and a resident of Hillsborough County.Districts 1 - 4 are single member.Districts 5 & 7 are countywide.Term: 4 Years, beginning November 17, 2026

Infrastructure strain from rapid growth and the skyrocketing cost of living are the two challenges. Infrastructure strain: Institute strict capacity reviews before approving new real estate developments and force high-impact corporations to finance 100% of their utility upgrades. Shift existing tax dollars directly into our overlooked neighborhoods to fund equity-weighted sidewalk repairs and green stormwater systems to stop routine flooding. Cost-of-living crisis: Expanding local homestead exemptions and fighting for targeted property tax caps. Finally, permanently restore our affordable housing trust funds to finance critical home repair grants, ensuring legacy families can safely maintain homeownership.
To ensure affordable housing is available for working families,I will implement a multi-layered anti-displacement blueprint on the County Commission.I will fight to expand local homestead exemptions and institute targeted property tax caps to insulate our seniors and working-class households from skyrocketing assessments.First,I will permanently restore the ten million dollars recently reallocated away from our local affordable housing trust fund to finance critical home maintenance grants so legacy residents can safely maintain property ownership.Second,I will enforce strict inclusionary zoning policies on developers receiving county subsidies,legally requiring them to include permanently affordable units to combat predatory gentrification
To aggressively address our severe traffic fatality crisis, my funding and policy decisions will shift county planning toward an equity-weighted, safety-first Complete Streets model. As a lifelong resident and neighborhood president, I will restructure the transportation budget to prioritize funding for long-neglected sidewalks, high-visibility crosswalks, and street lighting in historically overlooked communities. I will implement proven traffic-calming infrastructure like raised crosswalks and curb extensions to slow down speeding vehicles at dangerous intersections. Finally, I will update land regulations to force corporate developers to pay 100% of upfront pedestrian safety upgrades, ensuring our families travel safely.
To improve flood control and storm resilience,we must transition county planning into a rapid-response, equity-weighted model that prioritizes long-neglected neighborhood infrastructure.County tax dollars should be shifted aggressively to upgrade outdated stormwater systems, clear blocked local drainage canals, and deploy green mitigation networks in historically overlooked communities.Also, we should require developers to finance 100% of the upfront costs of the drainage upgrades to prevent unchecked real estate growth from causing severe street flooding.Finally, streamline evacuation planning by launching county-staffed, mobile resilience hubs directly in vulnerable areas to fast-track emergency intake and provide face-to-face assistance.
To beat traffic congestion over the next 5 to 10 years, I will focus on fixing our roads and expanding public transit options so neighbors have better ways to travel. As a lifelong resident and local business owner, I know our families are tired of sitting in gridlock every day. I will shift county tax dollars to add more bus routes, build dedicated lanes for faster public transit, and repair broken sidewalks so it is safe to walk or bike. I will also make sure outside corporate developers pay 100% of the cost for new traffic lights and road upgrades near their projects. By giving our neighborhoods real, reliable choices besides driving, we can pull cars off the road, cut down travel times, and protect their pocketbook.
To promote safe access to schools, I will establish a permanent coordination council that brings together our school board, transportation departments, and neighborhood civic associations. As a lifelong resident and neighborhood president, I know that protecting our children requires all three groups to work in lockstep. We will combine school bus data with county traffic maps to run immediate safety audits on our school zones, allowing us to fast-track sidewalk installations and bright street lighting along high-risk walking routes. We will also partner with local civic councils to fund community crossing guards. Finally, I will force real estate developers to finance protected bike lanes near schools so our kids arrive safely.

Property Taxes - If voted in November 2026

The Tampa Bay Rays - If voted by Commissioners Light Rail - Needs State of Florida Legislators support.
Affordable Housing - Ensuring everyone qualified has access to an affordable and decent home through the County's Affordable Housing Program. In addition, more funding is need to increase the amount of housing subsidy to assist families and individuals with down payment assistance.
66% of the County funding supports Fire Rescue and the Sheriff's Office. Continue to educate the public on public safety including: scooters, bicycles, pedestrian crossing and drivers.
The County completed a study after Hurricanes Milton and Helene. This cause ditches to be cleaned in communities, improve the infrastructure, and purchase of storm water equipment. The County received $709 from HUD to make infrastructure and housing improvements in low to moderate income areas as it relates to flooding. The evacuation plans are good. Constituents need to adhere to orders when to evacuate.
The County needs Light Rail. I'm hopeful, that State of Florida will begin to invest in light rail for our Region. The population growth in Hillsborough County continues to grow daily and constituents are always talking about stuck in traffic in our county.
I will promote educational awareness through my bi-weekly newsletter for safer access for students and pedestrian in a two miles walk zone. Divers need to pay more attention to students when they are in the school zones.
