Our community has an absence of leadership. Two or three unelected individuals run our town. The government of Freehold Twp. is incredibly closed off to its residents. Our elected officials are nothing more than window dressing. They enjoy reading their proclamations, posing for their photo ops and showing up for their ribbon cuttings, but they have little to no interest in actually leading. They outright refuse to answer questions or emails with our current mayor going as far as telling me “I don’t check my township email. Anyone who needs to get a hold of me has my personal email.” He then gave me his personal email. All I have now is two emails for him to ignore me on.

Our meetings are not televised the way neighboring towns and our own Board of Education are. It often takes 6-8 weeks for minutes to be posted from previous meetings. The agendas for their workshop and regular meetings are often posted a day or two before. The bottom line is this is a group of people that does the bare minimum in providing our residents with transparent government and in reality does everything they can to keep people away. I would invite our residents to attend these meetings in person to see how little our elected officials really do.
My personal experience over the last 18 months is what brought me into this race.

We had Pagan Motorcycle Gang members set up shop on our street. We reached the point where our children were afraid to go outside. One day as I was getting ready to mow the lawn, my 8 year old son said to me “daddy, why don’t wait a few minutes,” as he looked out the window and saw 20 gang members staring at our house.

We had as many as 25-30 gang members here at any given time. They walked our streets with baseball bats and axe handles in hand. They urinated in our streets. They surrounded a mother and her young daughter in their own driveway. They sped and tailgated through our streets . There an assault in broad daylight in front of children.

Our police chief’s response? This was a “neighborly dispute.” One member of this gang lived here, but that was his assessment. This was co-signed by our do nothing committee members who are more concerned with maintaining their “Family Town” mantra.
I would continue and expand the purchase of as much open space land as is feasible. I would take additional steps whenever possible and try to get some more developable land purchased and maybe avoid some of the unnecessary construction projects we see around our town.
Affordable housing is something we need to work on as an entire community. Often times in our town it seems the responsibility of affordable housing has fallen on a very small percentage of our town and residents. That needs to change and the burden needs to be shared by all.
