Lincoln County Sheriff

County Sheriffs provide civil, corrections, and law enforcement services to the county. They are also required to provide and run a county jail. To qualify for the office of Sheriff, a candidate must be a U.S. citizen, a registered voter, resident in the county for one year prior to election, and at least 21 years of age. Proof of certification or eligibility by the Department of Public Safety Standards and Training must be provided to the County Clerk no later than 61 days prior to the election; exceptions may apply.Term: 4 years. The position is nonpartisan. Salary varies by county.
