Affordability, and government competence.
For affordability, I will fix the home owner's insurance crisis by making the changes necessary to bring the national insurance companies back to the state. Regional insurers lack the ability to withstand losses from hurricane damage unlike national insurers.
Regarding government competence, I will use every tool at my disposal to bring to light all of the State's wasteful use of tax payer dollars.
The state must make it easy for all Floridians to access their proof of citizenship documents so they can exercise their right to vote.
Fixing our housing crisis requires collaboration between city, county, and state governments. There are numerous documented cases of local residents being against new housing developments in areas like abandoned parking lots.
I will work with local officials to identify the sites most likely to have local resident approval for development and provide state support to get construction started as quickly and safely as possible.
Life of the mother, rape, incest.
As a conservative I support small government as a principle. What that means in practice is; local governments should be more powerful and relevant to the individual Floridian's life than the State government.
This is because any Floridian can get a meeting with their county commissioner and mayor in a reasonable time frame. As a regular Floridian you have no chance of getting a meeting with the governor of Florida.
I believe Tallahassee is doing a big government loves to do, consolidate power and remove power from local governments. This is bad policy.
The needs of Miami and Miami Dade county are not the same as the needs of Defuniak Springs and Walton County. The local elected officials can meet the needs of these very different communities better than career politicians in Tallahassee.
This issue requires cooperation with the Federal government, namely in getting more access to generic medicines in sufficient quantities. The easiest way to do this is to allow generic medicine from Canada and Europe into the US
As the owner of my home, I completely agree. I was scratching my head when I saw the governor and the state legislature focused on property taxes and not a second spent on property insurance.
