Create avenues to improve affordability and to restore trust in our democracy and put people ahead of politics.
We need to speed up the processing of birth and marriage records by streamlining systems. The documents should be free and online certificates should be immediately available. Voter document assistance at the county offices should be immediately available.
Since developers are one of the most lucrative industries in Florida - there should be a required percentage of large multi family developments reserved for certain average income levels in the region of interest. We also need to increase first time buyer incentives for people just starting out to help young people get housing in this affordability crisis.
I would support full access back to the original levels in Florida before the Supreme Court overturned Roe vs Wade. In Florida - 99 percent of abortions were in the first trimester and .6 percent later than that. The claim that abortions are performed up to birth is complete fabrication for political reasons. The decisions that are being made now are placing women in direct harm by denying reproductive care.
The state should not be able to determine what’s best for local governments. We cannot control what directly impacts us and keep our local initiatives alive if the state controls our individual municipalities. Once again - the people will lose control to decide what happens in their own neighborhood.
The state sales tax revenue has increased to over a billion dollars a year for the past two years. We need to fund and keep Medicaid at current levels - healthcare for poverty level individuals is unavailable and employers are continuing to push healthcare costs onto employees. We need people in congress to create programs to stop these cuts.
It’s because property insurance has exponentially outgrown property tax increases and property tax increases have a cap because they are homesteaded. We did not have a hurricane last year and insurance company profits are soaring but they are hiding profits through affiliate transfers outside of our state. People are having trouble selling their home, buying a home, and renting out property because the profits are consumed by property insurance.
