The two most important challenges facing Florida are strengthening our education system and ensuring access to affordable, quality healthcare.
Florida must continue improving educational opportunities and outcomes for every student. Our schools face challenges that include teacher recruitment and retention, classroom support, school safety, and ensuring that students graduate prepared for college, skilled trades, or the workforce. Within my first six months in office, I will work to support competitive teacher compensation, reduce unnecessary administrative burdens that take educators away from teaching, expand career and technical education programs, and strengthen partnerships between schools, colleges, and Florida employers. I will also advocate for greater accountability and transparency in education spending so that more resources reach teachers and classrooms directly.
Propose to allow documents to be available online. Provide access to public libraries for the forms to use and/or install and activate a division to allow access to women.
Florida’s affordable housing crisis requires a comprehensive approach that increases the supply of housing while helping working families achieve and maintain stable housing. I support protecting and fully utilizing state affordable housing funds, encouraging public-private partnerships, and reducing unnecessary regulatory barriers that increase the cost and delay the construction of new housing.
The state should also encourage the development of workforce housing near employment centers, support responsible redevelopment of underused commercial properties, and provide incentives for communities and developers to increase the supply of housing at a range of price points. For prospective homeowners, I support expanding responsible down-payment assistance and first-time homebuyer programs that help working families build equity and achieve long-term financial stability.
I believe every human life has value, and I also recognize that these are deeply personal and difficult decisions. My approach is to support women and families through better prenatal care, maternal healthcare, adoption resources, childcare affordability, and economic support, while respecting the constitutional framework governing Florida.
Florida’s system of government works best when state and local governments respect their distinct roles. The state has an important responsibility to establish consistent standards on issues that affect all Floridians, but local governments are often better positioned to understand and respond to the unique needs of their communities.
I believe home rule should be respected, and state preemption should be used carefully and only when there is a clear need for statewide uniformity or when a local policy has significant effects beyond the boundaries of that community. Florida is a diverse state, and the needs of our urban, suburban, coastal, and rural communities are not always the same.
The appropriate balance is one in which the state establishes necessary statewide standards while preserving meaningful local authority to address community-specific concerns. I would evaluate preemption legislation on a case-by-case basis, with a preference for local decision-making when an issue is t
Florida must address healthcare access and affordability with solutions that protect patients while remaining fiscally responsible. As federal policies and funding levels change, the state should carefully evaluate their impact on Florida families, healthcare providers, and taxpayers rather than simply shifting higher costs to individuals or accepting unsustainable long-term obligations.
I support strengthening access to primary and preventive care, expanding the use of telehealth, addressing shortages of doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals, and supporting community health centers that provide essential care in underserved areas. Improving access to preventive and primary care can also reduce the use of emergency rooms for non-emergency treatment, which increases costs throughout the healthcare system.
Florida should also improve transparency in healthcare pricing and prescription drug costs, encourage competition among providers and insurers, and closely examine oppo
I understand why Floridians are deeply concerned about the cost of property insurance. Both property taxes and insurance costs affect housing affordability, but rapidly rising insurance premiums, limited coverage options, and the uncertainty of future increases have created an immediate financial burden for many homeowners.
Florida must continue working to create a more competitive and stable insurance market. That includes attracting additional financially sound insurers to the state, increasing transparency and accountability, strengthening efforts to prevent fraud, and ensuring that savings and improvements in the insurance market are passed on to consumers. We must also continue investing in hurricane mitigation and resiliency programs that can reduce risk, protect homes, and lower long-term insurance costs.
At the same time, property taxes remain a significant concern, particularly for first-time buyers, families purchasing a new home, seniors on fixed incomes we need reform.
